Bands Play When Capt. Joseph F. I Shipp Alights from Train at Chattanooga

CHATTANOOGA, Term., Jan. 30.— With bands playing "Dixie'! and "Home, Sweet Home,' Capt. Joseph F. Shlpp was greeted tonight by 10,000 fellow citizens when he alighted from *__»__, t. *— .-...,.. T- C^_,_^-^. Kara 1 1( _, had just completed a sentence In prison for contempt of court in connection with the lynching of Ed Jolyrson, a negro. The bands struck up "Dixie" as the train pulled In, and instantly the surging throng was in a state of wild enthusiasm.' There was imminent danger of a panic and possible injury to women and children. :As Captain Shlpp walked" slowly down the length of the shed he was greeted by his aged wife. Their greeting over, the bands played "Home, Sweet Home," and again pandemonium broke forth. Ex-Deputy Sheriff Nolan and Luther Williams returnee! with their former chief and were given ovations.
