The Platte Institute is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit research and education organization in Nebraska. Its mission is "to advance policies that remove barriers to growth and opportunity in Nebraska."[1]
Policy areas
The Platte Institute has three areas of research focus, issuing publications on each:[2]
- Tax policy—"The Platte Institute strives to improve the quality of life for Nebraskans by promoting fiscal policy that limits taxation and raises needed revenue with the least harm to our economy."
- Government spending—The Platte Institute "evaluates the economic impact and trade-offs associated with policies and provides the latest information on state and local spending proposals."
- Regulatory reform—"Our work empowers the public and policymakers to identify and combat costly regulations, limit the barriers to entry for entrepreneurs, and lower the costs associated with hiring and employing workers."
Funding
The Platte Institute is privately funded through contributions and grants. It does not accept state or federal funding.[1]
