Harold Raymond Medina (1888-1990) was a federal judge on the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York and the United States Court of Appeals for the 2nd Circuit. He joined the Second Circuit in 1951 after an appointment from Harry Truman. Truman also appointed Medina to the Southern District of New York in 1947. At the time of appointment, he was a private practice attorney in New York City. He assumed senior status on March 1, 1958, and continued serving in this capacity until retiring on February 22, 1980. He passed away on March 14, 1990.[1]

Judicial nominations and appointments

Second Circuit

Medina was nominated to the Second Circuit by President Harry Truman on June 11, 1951, to a seat vacated by Learned Hand; he was confirmed by the Senate on June 21, 1951, and received commission June 23rd. He assumed senior status on March 1, 1958, and continued serving in this capacity until retiring on February 22, 1980.[1] He was succeeded to the post by Henry Friendly.

Southern District of New York

Medina was nominated to the Southern District of New York by President Harry Truman on May 15, 1947, to a seat vacated by Samuel Mandelbaum; he was confirmed by the Senate on June 18, 1947, and received commission June 20th. He served until his advancement to the Second Circuit on June 23, 1951.[1] Medina was succeeded in this position by Thomas Murphy.
