Many of the jokes are juvenile and perverse. Yet the characters and story are surprisingly good. Just about everyone evolves though there are typical traits that carry through from start to finish. While watching this, I often felt that the humor style was pretty old school, if modernized. A fun action/harem/romance show for fans of zany slapstick/absurdist comedy with plot. recommended by sammy321 on 2016-11-27 01:26 If you're looking for a comedic series that follows a perverted main character, this will have you laughing for sure. recommended by yota71 on 2016-01-30 15:11 Very funny and amusinga anime, recommended must see by zero111 on 2015-10-15 13:09 i like this anime because of the main characters this i mightly absurd nowadays but still one of those anime that i remembered even though it s been many years ive watch this....i wonder why recommended by drayen on 2013-12-31 21:21 Great anime, the beggining and end is funny as hell, but midway it seems to turn into your regular harem ecchi comedy... The first two episodes are completly priceless though. for fans by brunoais on 2013-01-30 16:13 It was quite funny even though it had too many running gags. Small, but fun fanservice and fandisservice, also. The most interesting here was that there was actually some unexpected (for me) character evolution, specially on Youko and keita. And the ending make (kinda) sense, for a change. It wasn't a series without any story that suddenly got a story (being 26 eps helped with that part). If you like ecchi for laughs, slapstick and comedy, then you'll like this one, for sure! recommended by dafpunk on 2013-01-24 00:22 It was funny , I laughed a lot. That's not actually really true. The majority of the story is about a pervert named Keita who seeks to get a harem (and basically fondle the women of the world) and his "loyal" inukami, Yoko, who want him all for herself, putting their goals at end.It is an interesting story that develops nicely incorporating a mixture of comedy, ecchi, and action. However, it is definitely a long watch for the amount of content and certain aspects of the story (and strange, strange focus on macho males and "elephants") detract from the otherwise enjoyable tale.Inukami is a fun watch, but also a stretched one. There are better stories out given the length but nonetheless it's a good show overall.Animation:The animation was fairly smooth overall but was not without faults. First the good, colors are nice and characters are drawn nicely. The variety of scenes is a nice touch which added to the overall feel of the animation. Now the deltas, the show had notably poor CG animations that is excessively overused in battle sequences, detracting from the impact of the scenes. In addition, Keita is either buck naked exposing an "elephant" or is dressed in some weird cosplay for a good 50% of the series. It's good if you're into that but otherwise it is just a tad silly. Sound:The OP and the ED were fair but nothing that great. I personally find Yui Horie more of a VA than a singer... Anyways, the BGM is good at times but certain songs are overused. The VAs are good but I'm not giving any huge awards. Music: 3/5, VA: 4/5. Story:There is a mountain where the inukami reside and the members of the Kawahira family all eventually form contracts to work together for the common good. In this world, we find Keita, who has just joined with his inukami a few months ago.The majority of the show seems to be mostly filler episodes where the pair of Keita and Yoko go to ward off some bad spirits. Of course each episode comes packed with ecchiness. The difference is that in this case you won't find Keita tripping on stuff and accidentally fondling someone, he is OPENLY ecchi and will do whatever it takes to get his hands where they don't belong. Thus it feels that the first dozen or so episodes is just a long, drawn out exposition. There is a good story about the past of Yoko and Keita but this became overshadowed by a rather contrived ending. The main, final arc starts with around six episodes left and grows through unbelievably crazy plot twists. I mean that in a negative way, they just occur without any foreshadowing making it seem as if the writers were desperately looking for a way to make it seem that more dramatic. It sort of boils down to the DBZ recipe of build up hype about how strong some character is and then suddenly introducing someone who instantly beats them to a pulp. This makes the show feel less tangible and organic. The actual conclusion is painfully obvious and the execution of getting there just wasn't up to par. Character:Keita is a unique character in his personality but the net result is the same as in a typical harem (the guy does something he shouldn't and the girls beat him up for it). There is a lot of development between Keita and the other inukamis (OTHER than Yoko) but all we see between the servant/master is a lot of arguing and a lot of Yoko bullying Keita. I think this relationship could have been explored more. The other inukami that Keira interacts with are those of his brother, Kaoru, who is mysteriously always missing for a good part of the show. There are an abundance of supporting characters (so much so that it may be a bit confusing early in the series) that all seem to be pointless for the most part until the ending somehow makes use of them. Value:The show is just too long and too full of fan service for me. Fan service isn't necessarily bad but when it takes precedence over actual story development it gets annoying. And fan service with males is not fan service to me, it's called disservice. Anyways, it was just too spread out for a high value score, though the comedy did make for a rather enjoyable watch overall (up to the final arc at least). show review by killersdw on 2008-03-06 20:49 Rating: 5.83 Approval: 42.5% (1 votes) I'v just watched this anime and i can say it's a decent anime for those who like comedy. So let's start. Animation: Nothing good nothing bad , decent animation for a comedy anime. The characthers war well animated and well drown but nothing impersiv. Sound: Well done funny and sometimes sad when the dramatical or serious parts took place. The OP/END song it's good but boring. Story: Hmm this is a problem ther is no story plot till about the 20'est episode...is just a guy who is a pervert and hi's inukami who is very jealous and likes to beet the crap out of him when he dose something rong. Runing around destroing bad spirits (i's just so lame that i'v forgot) Character: Tipical anime characters all have their personality nothing special we'v seen them in a lot of animes.....by the way the development is minimal till about the half of the series. Value: I'f you like comedy animes and you are allso a pervert this anime is for you...non the less i didn't like the story at all. Enjoyment: Hmm i don't think i will ever watch this anime again but who nose ...it is a comedy and some parts wher realy good. show review by ace52387 on 2007-05-11 06:29 Rating: 7.16 Approval: 94.9% (4 votes) Inukami are dog spirits, and Keita comes from a family that uses these spirits along with their own spiritual powers to rid the world of evil. Youko is Keita's Inukami, but she's not like the others. Not obedient nor respectful, she is a big burden on Keita financially. Youko does, at the very least, love him. She is prone to jealousy though, and extremely possessive, not to mention starved for attention, but Keita is a free, perverted soul who does his best to escape her grasp and hit on all the women he comes across. It's too bad for him that Youko can teleport and control fire.A vast majority of Inukami is episodic. Youko and Keita get caught in situations while extinguishing evil at the request of others. Very slowly, a central story line involving Youko's father and a perverted wizard develops, but it works within the episodic Inukami framework. The smaller subplots all involve Youko and Keita abusing each other. Keita takes advantage of his Inukami's naivete to hide his unfaithful intentions while Youko, ever the sadist, will often tease Keita into situations where he's the most vulnerable, only to suddenly humiliate him. She's not beyond outright delivering simple and straightforward vengeance when she feels wronged either. Youko, unlike most tsundere's, makes it clear to all that she wants Keita, or rather, she already sees him as her property. Her innocent notions of romance, cuddling, going on dates, receiving courting gifts, gives her sadistic nature a playfulness that makes it easy to laugh at. Her favorite form of torture is teleporting Keita out of his clothing, buck naked in the middle of the street. It may sound harsh, but Keita's closet exhibitionism keeps him from being traumatized. Youko's violence doesn't stem from misunderstandings ala Love Hina. Keita's punishments are his just deserts. His humorous ambivalence, or even outright aversion to Youko's tenderness alone warrants a smack. Add to that his shameless sex drive and a pompous chauvinism, and it feels good to see the bastard hurt a little. For a harem girl, Youko is quite a joy to watch. She's innocent at heart, mischievous with her lover, but at the same time easy to anger, and frighteningly belligerent. Her abusiveness with Keita is a slap on the wrist compared to the hell she'd unleash if prompted by her jealousy and possessiveness. The gloves are off for people who stand between her and her cozy relationship with Keita. It might sound biploar, a murderous violence with innocent affection behind it, but it all makes sense under her territorial nature; almost like a nurturing beast protecting its offspring.Inukami is splashed with harem drama, but its sense of humor is its boon. At least half of the scenes that are built like a corny attempt at a tear jerker are, at the last moment, twisted into one of its ridiculous jokes. Aside from the lovers' spats of Youko and Keita, the humor in Inukami is totally inappropriate, and i mean that in a good way. The Inukami world is full of freaks with all kinds of sexual "hobbies". The villain in the first episode is a restless soul who shoots people with a beam from his genitals, stripping them of their clothing, and he's one of the tamer ones. The minor characters; the freaks, perverts, Youko's ridiculous father and the exhibitionist wizard display their rather nasty perversions so openly and proudly, so earnestly that it's hard not to laugh at how harmless yet disgusting they are. One of them is a salary man, complete with a suit, who spends all his screen time tied up in bondage fashion with ropes, screaming to be punished. He doesn't even untie himself to walk. Most of the real cast was quite a drag though. Keita's cousin's 10 Inukami, which he encounters quite often, are a gang of shamelessly unoriginal harem characters. Keita himself is something of a cliche harem anime lead: perverted most of the time, but unnaturally caring at others. Keita is a functional, if simple character when he is a skirt chaser, but his sex driven mind is so extreme that it's hard to see him in any other role, much a considerate prince charming that the girls swoon over. The kindness is such a sudden and contradictory shift that it feels unnatural. As fun as it is to watch Inukami's twisted humor, it is just as unbearable when it doesn't have the good sense to stay away from drama. Towards the end, a story that actually takes itself seriously develops, which peaks at a long and melodramatic battle between the heroes, and a real villain. Not some exhibitionist or pervert, but maybe the embodiment of evil itself. Putting aside its unbearable cheesiness, it just feels completely out of place in the established Inukami world. It begs the question why a harem comedy based on perversion of all sorts suddenly wants a Sailor Moon-esque ending.Inukami is quite long, and eventually Youko's violence becomes more and more simple. It is too often devoid of the trickery by both parties that made the abuse fun earlier in the series. Keita doesn't even attempt to escape Youko before setting his lecherous sights on some other girl. In fact, he'll holler at girls when she's right next to him, evidently, asking to be burned to a crisp.--It's easy to recommend the first 2 episodes to anyone who's okay having a little male nudity with their fan service, but the humor becomes more and more tainted with standard harem fare as the series moves on, and the ending takes an epic turn for the terrible. show review by realmayer on 2007-04-26 03:15 Rating: 8 Approval: 52.0% (2 votes) Wolf Mother[/b][/i] ~ One of my many many frivolous and indiscriminate anime downloads, this anime surprised me with its animation quality and its strangely enjoyable humor. ~ Animation:[/b] It surprised me. Normally when I watch animes that have this similar art style to it, it ends up being some wonky man-ecchi with terrible animation and too many nut jokes. Yet I was gladly wrong to find a real solid and fairly consistent animation that is infrequent in anime. ~ Sound:[/b] The sound left much to be desired. The sound effects for most of the explosions in the anime seemed the same and the environment lacked ambient sound almost entirely. Laser noises and deflection noises provided most of the sound effects for almost all of their special abilities in the anime and made for repetitious fighting sequences. ~ Story:[/b] The story was delightfully entertaining for an ecchi. Fans of ecchi will probably single this one out to be one of their top. The man-on-man action trickling throughout was more of a comedic device and served its purpose well. You'll enjoy each moment the protagonist gets naked and never get tired of him getting mobbed by "macho" men. You might even find yourself using the word "macho" more in your daily vocabulary. ~ Character:[/b] They were enjoyable and varied. There were an array of archetypes satisfying the most intensive fan of fanservice and a plethora of moe moments that didn't seem rehashed and repetitive. Although they seem familiar, you'll find yourself actually memorizing their names! The protagonists in particular might have exhibited some annoying archetypal characteristics, but that is overshadowed by the varied circumstances. It also helps that the female protagonist did not have a high, screechy voice to accommodate the viciousness. ~ Value:[/b] Not necessarily all top valuable as an anime. I might find myself forgetting I even watched it within a year, but I was glad I spent the time watching it for its plethora of laughs abound. ~ Enjoyment:[/b] You'll find yourself laughing at the ridiculousness in this anime. Too much macho is never enough when it comes to lewd and inappropriate situations depicted in this anime. Anyone a fan of rude and over-the-top sex jokes will thoroughly enjoy it enough to be glad you watched it. show review by alzheimer on 2007-04-07 23:30 Rating: 7.5 Approval: 75.0% (7 votes) This is a show for perverts. Not just any perverts, but the typical Japanese cliche pervert types. Watch this if you're into male exhibitionists who show off their dicks (censored with a funny little elephant logo), play with their nipples, if you want to see muscular men in loincloth and mouthgag, people treated and literally behaving like dogs, and I've mentioned only the harmless parts of this series here. According to AniDB, the genre of this show is 'Action, Comedy, Ecchi' but actually none of these genres apply. Although the characters do have super powers (penises that shoot laser beams and the like), there is no action worth mentioning, there are no jokes told that would classify this as a comedy, and no ecchi, no fanservice that would actually turn you on in any way, unless you're a pervert. The series has a close resemblance to 'experimental/alternative' movies/series, except that it doesn't do weird things that make no sense and nobody will understand anyway, but instead focuses on very weird forms of pervertism which make no sense and nobody will understand anyway. You usually don't judge a series by watching just the first episode only, however it is different with this series. Watch only the first episode and decide then wether you want to continue watching this shit or not. If you like the episode, the series will get even better as you move on, if you didn't like it it will just get worse and cause serious brain damage. This series does not have outstanding animation, sound, not even particularly remarkable voice actors, it doesn't really have a story and the characters are a bit boring at times. It's just the way this series presents itself to the watcher that kicks it over the top (or way below anything you have seen before). There are only two possibilities for your value/enjoyment of this series: either you are a pervert and enjoy watching this shit a great deal, thus giving you a full 10/10 value/enjoyment, or you completely dislike it and don't even finish watching the first episode anyway, which makes zero value/enjoyment for you. show review by stevenvict on 2006-05-01 01:30 Rating: 6.33 Approval: 02.1% (18 votes) Ok,After everyone complaining that I need to see more than episode before I judge.I have done it and I still dont get it. I made it to episode 6 and gave up on it ever making good sense to me. All the shows after episode 1 are nothing like the first. It's like a different human made them. It took to about episode 5 before they even tell you how the whole thing started. They must of expected you to already read the manga I guess. The main guy is like your typical anime guy on speed.Except he wears a dog collar and the girl with a tail doesnt. It was supposed to be the other way around but the girl, who is somewhat of a troublemaker, tricked the guy into being the 'pet' and so she's the master. The girl seems to like the guy, but they guy is so stupid,he just sees her as a dog.And has no problem telling her this all the time. And the rest of the cast are anime generic. I think the show was trying to be like amaenaideyo(a show I liked) with it's sexual comedy but with half dog girls instead of girl priests. The only problem is the story is a mess. With peaple running around yelling and doing stupid things with no real focus. Either that,or I've seen so many anime shows, I'm really getting picky about what I watch. A very common example is characters without nipples; in other cases, something such as steam or foam stays in the camera`s way. In some shows, the censorship in the disk releases is even stronger than in the TV version. This does not apply to censorship of what Japanese pornography laws still require to be censored. weightless · TV censoringThe TV version is censored and later DVD/BD releases are uncensored, so the money-grubbing capitalists can make a couple more bucks at our expense. · · excessive censoringThere are basically two cases to which this term can be applied to: Creative censorship: the TV station airing the anime does its best to remove most ecchi parts from the show, using various and original methods.
