Autocross Club

The purpose of the Autocross Club is to provide students with a sports car activity that is both safe and exciting. As a club we set up the structure for students to satisfy their passion for speed. Autocross is an event that tests you, your driving skills, and your car’s handling characteristics in a race against the clock. The course consists of a series of pylons set up in an empty parking lot. The goal is to drive through the course with the quickest time possible and without hitting any cones. The competition is real, it’s exciting, and it’s safe. While speeds are no greater than legal highway speeds, the combination of concentration and car response gives students an excellent and exciting driving experience. In autocross events, students learn how to drive a car quickly and safely, learning skills they can transfer to other forms of organized motorsport. You do not have to be an Applied Technologies student to participate or run your car. The Autocross Club meets every Tuesday at 6pm in the lobby of the 600 building.

InterVarsity Christian Fellowship

InterVarsity Christian Fellowship is a global ministry organization that creates a space for students who follow Jesus to grow in their faith, find lifelong friendships, and graduate as future world changers. Similarly, IVCF encourages students to ask spiritual questions and explore life’s biggest questions in an environment that is inclusive and beneficial for all who participate. InterVarsity Christian Fellowship is an extension of the student’s college experience at UNOH, not separate. IVCF is ran by UNOH students, for UNOH students.

IVCF meets every Monday from 7:00pm - 8:00pm in room 13115 in the 13000 building.

Motorsports Team

The UNOH Motorsports Team is a one-of-a-kind opportunity for students who have the passion for dirt track racing or drag racing. The Motorsports Teams give students the ability to participate as team members, at a professional level to compete in an actual racing environment. Team members have use of professional-level vehicles, equipment and facilities throughout the racing season.

To try-out for the Motorsports teams, students must first apply, complete an interview with team coaches, and meet certain academic requirements. Selected team members must have a minimum of a 2.5 g.p.a. on a 4.0 scale and drivers must have a minimum of a 3.2 g.p.a. on a 4.0 scale. Both motorsports teams are considered part of UNOH's Collegiate Athletics, and as such, team members can qualify for scholarship money to cover the cost of their college tuition.

Students design and build the vehicles and engines used on the Motorsports Team. Students are also selected as drivers for the vehicles based on skill tests given prior to the racing season on and off the track. Students practice four hours each day Monday through Thursday from 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. or from 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. depending on the students' class schedules.

The teams are open to all UNOH students and are a great opportunity to learn while participating in an area of their interest. The High Performance program, and specifically the Motorsports Teams, have placed graduates in all levels of professional motorsports, from Monster Energy NASCAR Cup, Xfinity, and Camping World Truck Series, to NHRA and ARCA, to the World of Outlaws and All Star Circuit of Champions.

The dirt track teams compete in the stock car and UMP modified classes. Students who are new to the teams will compete in the stock cars. Students who are multiple-year members, or have distinguished themselves as exceptional team members, will work on the modified teams. The teams compete on Friday nights at the University-owned Limaland Motorsports Park and travel to other venues to compete throughout the season, such as Eldora Speedway, I-55 Speedway, Waynesfield Motorsports Park, and Speedweek at Volusia Motorsports Park in Florida.

The drag racing team is the most recent addition to the Motorsports Teams. Currently the drag racing team has three competition vehicles: Chevrolet V-8 powered S-15, Ford powered Cougar, and Super Comp dragster. The S-15 and Cougar have extensive modifications to the engine as well as suspension and chassis to create a very competitive yet safe drag racing vehicle. The Super Comp dragster is a pure drag racing machine powered by an alcohol burning big block Chevrolet. During the season the team will compete in bracket racing events at various NHRA and IHRA sanctioned tracks throughout Michigan, Indiana, and Ohio.

National Truck Equipment Association (NTEA) Intern Program

UNOH has partnered with the NTEA to give students the opportunity to show their skills and knowledge by being ambassadors.  This program is offered to Alternate Fuels, Diesel, and Hybrid Electric students.  Students must be recommended by a faculty member.  Attendance and GPA is also a determining factor in the selection process.  Students are interviewed and up to six students are selected to become ambassadors for this conference/trade show.  All expenses are paid for students to attend, and the students work in conjunction with the NTEA staff.  Their primary responsibility is to manage the Hybrid Medium and Heavy Duty Truck Ride and Drive.  The purpose is for students to learn of the opportunities available to them upon graduation and to find out the newest technology in the industry.  This is also valuable information to have on their resume.

Off-Road Club

The University of Northwestern Ohio's Off-Road Club started in mid-2002 in response to student interest in off-road activities. Race Club

In 1999, University of Northwestern Ohio instructors saw a need to provide students with an organization that would promote activities centered around the growing high performance program. The University of Northwestern Ohio Race Club was developed to meet this need. Since its inception, students have been able to participate in a variety of programs. A relationship was formed with the ARCA Racing Series (American Race Car Association). The Race Club members were soon traveling around the country to volunteer on various ARCA Racing Series race teams. Some of the race venues include Daytona, Pocono, Talladega, along with smaller tracks like Salem, Toledo, and Berlin. The educational experience the students gain from these activities is invaluable. In the interest of providing students with a well-rounded education, UNOH Race Club has expanded its presence in the ARCA Racing Series and into other areas of motorsports.

The University of Northwestern Ohio Race Club meets Tuesdays at 12:30 p.m. in the 400 Building museum area. The club helps students gain more experience by participating on race teams. Any University of Northwestern Ohio student may join. The club is designed to bring together students who like to share in racing experiences. Pictures of the students with their teams and racing events are hanging in the 300 & 600 Buildings for others to see where they have been and what they have done.
