George County baseball’s High Quality Quartet commits to MGCCC. Congratulations Ben Davis, Canyon Reeves, Tripp Lightsey, and Blane Green!

They say two are better than one, so double that and you’ve got yourself a stellar recruiting class out of George County High School.

Four members of the 6A State Championship baseball team and All-State team are headed from “The County” to “The Curly” as they commit to play baseball at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College.

New Head Coach Zach Allen liked what he saw at Trustmark Park in Pearl three weeks ago and wasted no time pulling the trigger on the four George County Rebel standouts Ben Davis, Canyon Reeves, Tripp Lightsey, and Blane Green,

Most recently named the 6A player of the year, Ben Davis is the stellar second baseman for the Rebels also producing at the plate with 40 hits, four of those being home runs, who also has a need for speed leading in stolen bases and runs scored.

Canyon Reeves was lights out on the mound and in the box all Junior season and the State Championship series where he was named the Most Valuable Player. Reeves leads the Rebels in with an impressive 0.63.

Tripp Lightsey covers a lot of ground in the outfield for the Rebels, but he is also a fielder’s worst nightmare leading George County with a .404 batting average, .596 slugging percentage, and 46 hits.

Rounding out this quality quartet is the catcher Blane Green, who has an outstanding .986 fielding percentage, who was also Mr. Consistent at the plate during their road to state.

Congratulations to all four of these George County Rebels, and we look forward to cheering you all on for one more year at George County High School!
