D’Iberville football’s Jaylen Barker and Omar Johnson sign with Kentucky Christian University

It was an exciting Wednesday afternoon for Warrior nation, as two talented student athletes officially put pen to paper to further their academic and athletic careers.

The D’Iberville football program will be represented well at the next level as Jaylen Barker and Omar Johnson commit to Kentucky Christian University. Barker represented the Warriors as a strong safety and Johnson spent time as a defensive back.

Both young men express their gratitude for this moment and say they definitely do not take the opportunity for granted.

“Honestly I’m just really blessed to be in this position playing at the next level because it’s really rare for a lot of high school students to be able to do that so I’m just really blessed,” Barker said.

“Being able to keep playing football, as a little kid, I got to watch my cousin play and watching family members and friends play and it’s always been the goal to play in the NFL so now I get to take one step closer to that and like I said some people don’t see it as the best but I do because I get to take another snap even if it might be my last,” said Johnson.

Not only will the two get to suit up together in the fall, they’ll also be living in the same dorm. Congratulations, gentlemen!
