The Gulfport Admirals rise to victory over Oak Grove as they advance to round two with a final score of 7-6

It was do or die last night for many of our coast teams as they played the deciding matches to see who would advance to the next round. These highlights involve two programs who face each other quite frequently in the playoffs, and this game definitely lived up to that hype.

The Gulfport Admirals played host to Oak Grove high school for the third and deciding game to see who would advance to round two of the 7A playoffs. There was truly never a dull moment in the game, and some key Admiral moments are listed below:

-Prince Cottonham gets the start on the mound and delivers key strikeouts after being down (0-2)

-Elijia Barney hits one past the infield and knocks in Javin Childres for the Admirals first run (1-2)

-Ethan Surowiec comes in to pitch and makes a diving catch that leaves the Warriors stranded on base. Later in that inning hits a two run homerun to tie the game (3-3)

-Davis Ormes with a home run of his own bridging the Warrior gap (4-6)

-Brant Rousaville hits line drive past first baseman for RBI double (5-6)

-Ethan Garner sails one over the infield to tie the game (6-6)

-Prince Cottonham hits a sac fly to score Luke Wilson for the go ahead run (7-6)

-Thomas Stennis enters the game on the mound and keeps the Warriors where they are. Wilson ends the game with a catch to advance to the next round.

Congratulations to the Admirals on advancing to the second round of playoffs after defeating Oak Grove with a final score of 7-6. They will now face North West Rankin for round two, who the Admirals beat last season to advance to the State Championship.
