In general, Kurdistan is divided into four parts: Iranian Kurdistan (East Kurdistan), Turkish Kurdistan (North Kurdistan), Iraqi Kurdistan (South Kurdistan) and Syrian Kurdistan (West Kurdistan). The government of this land is in fact the ruler of the Iran. In the Battle of Chaldiran a large part of this (about 80 percent of the Kurdistan) was overturned by the Ottoman Empire.
