About Us

Our Mission

At Remarkable, we're on a mission to empower Disability Tech innovators by providing the training, capital and networks they need to create a future that is accessible, equitable and inclusive for all.

Our Origins

Remarkable started in 2016 as an initiative of the Cerebral Palsy Alliance (CPA). We were inspired by a series of global competitions hosted by CPA that resulted in people with cerebral palsy driving the development of new technologies, such as a solar-powered wheelchair. We also drew inspiration from a hackathon program that invited people with disabilities to create cutting-edge technology.

Since then, we have evolved into a variety of startup acceleration programs, along with other initiatives including a fellowship for entrepreneurs with disability, podcast series, industry events, and a thriving global ecosystem. This included expanding to the US by licensing our brand to the Cerebral Palsy Alliance Research Foundation (CPARF), focusing on driving the Disability Tech market.

We are proud of where we are and excited about where we are going. None of this would be possible without the continuous support from CPA and CPARF. Together, we continue to push boundaries, innovate, and make a difference.

Disability Tech

At Remarkable, we use the term ‘Disability Tech’ to define the innovation and technology we support. Though we deeply respect the terms ‘Assistive Tech’ and ‘Inclusive Tech’ which highlight important aspects of technology we believe ‘Disability Tech’ better captures the essence of our mission and here is why...

Disability Tech acknowledges that the lived experiences of people with disabilities have driven significant technological advances. Innovations like the typewriter, voice-to-text technology, audiobooks, and electric toothbrushes all originated from needs related to disability. It also includes technologies specifically designed to remove barriers, such as no-touch catheters, 3D printed bionic limbs, and brain-computer interface (BCI) technologies.

Using Disability Tech helps us challenge assumptions about disability and highlights the universal potential of these innovations. What might seem to serve a small market often benefits everyone. By embracing this term we honour the advocates who lead this innovation, creating a more accessible, inclusive, and equitable world for all
