I love helping people re-connect with their own happiness and practice a strength-based approach to assessment, strategies and treatment! My clinical expertise is in combining specialized clinical knowledge and skills in the service of resolving anxiety and depression. I find that many people diagnosed with long-standing clinical depression and anxiety are often suffering from the negative impact of self-criticism, relationship discord, past trauma, or achievement fatigue, and that once these are addressed, their symptoms subside. My intention is to help provide a safe space to reduce your suffering and provide coping strategies.

You are frustrated with people in your life. You have resentment toward those you are meant to love; you feel misunderstood and judged; you worry others view you badly; you feel disconnected and excluded. Relationship feels confusing and frustrating. It feels like nothing you try works, you feel like it's your fault, and you feel empty inside. Your anxiety and loneliness won't go away on its own. Let me help you understand why you feel the way you do, help you gain abilities to truly connected with yourself and others, and mental clarity to handle interpersonal exchanges in ways that feels confident, caring, and thoughtful.

I believe everyone deserves some time to sit down with a strong listener and/or problem solver about their life. The feedback that I receive is, that I empathize & mirror the key issues quickly and help you brainstorm. I then help you get at "reframing" the negative situations and help you motivate and prioritize what is needed to do to actually change. I can work well with all mood issues, chaos, panic, addictions affairs and all relationship issues. Every session you should walk away with substantial suggestions to help in different areas. I also work with work ADHD, parenting, and women with breast cancer.

I concentrate on supporting teens (14-17), young adults (18-26), and families as they navigate the many ways severe depression and anxiety can impact day-to-day functioning.
The majority of my clients often feel like they have tried everything but nothing works, at least not long term. With my years of experience providing intensive, in-home, and community based behavioral interventions, I have developed a hands-on approach to individual and family therapy. By building a strong therapeutic relationship we are able to navigate the therapeutic process together. As your therapist I will be here to hold hope for you when you are unable to hold hope for yourself.

I work with women and former athletes who are struggling with anxiety. Sometimes this includes issues with relationships, life transitions, grief, eating issues, sports performance, spirituality, self esteem, and codependency. You may be feeling not good enough, stuck in a toxic relationship, uncomfortable asking for help, scared of conflict, intimidated, taken advantage of. You can achieve, tough it out, and make other people happy, but aren’t really happy yourself.

If you are stuck in the trap of high functioning anxiety, I can help.
Does your life seem put together but nervousness is your constant companion? Are you striving to make things perfect in your professional and personal life, even though it makes you feel exhausted and overwhelmed at times? Do you struggle to be present and enjoy the moment? You may be living with high functioning anxiety. While this anxiety can be a powerful motivator, it can often feel like an emotional rollercoaster. It may be impacting your sleep, your relationships and making you feel restless in your life.

I focus on helping people dealing with life transitions, depression, anxiety, self injury, self esteem, etc.
I believe everyone has the capacity and ability to change and improve their life and it's my privilege to help guide people along the way in therapy. I strive to provide a safe, nonjudgmental space for all my clients to explore, share, and discuss anything, to work together to find new ways to be in this world, and work on healing the past. We all have messaging we tell ourselves and so often it is unhealthy and can lead to negative self-talk, lower self-esteem, and stop us from living our best life. I work with each client to help uncover their roadblocks and find new ways forward.

Your child has become a teenager, and now life feels like you're navigating a storm. They have mood swings, anxiety, and depression. These things have clouded their mind, causing school to be more stressful, creating identity struggles, and making the family dynamic seem overwhelming. Concerns about the future and low self-esteem have added to mounting pressure to find help. Your teen has also developed a technology addiction, leading to isolation and loneliness, while hindering their social connections. You know this is a critical time for your teen. It breaks your heart to see them struggle, and you wish you knew how to help.

You really can do this. You really can heal. I haven't always felt as Anchored & Happy as I am now--for 25 years-I studied practiced & would be honored to teach you.

Anxiety Therapists
What are the most common treatments for anxiety?
Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.
How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?
The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.
When should I seek treatment for anxiety?
Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.
How effective is treatment for anxiety?
Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
