Coming up on Sky

We’re officially halfway through the year and it’s finally starting to feel like summer. As always, Sky & NOW are coming in hot with a bunch of brand-new TV shows and movies to keep you busy all month long.

Over on Netflix, July 20th is the day YouTuber Jake Paul faces off with legendary boxer Mike Tyson in a highly anticipated live event. July also sees the arrival of Apple TV+ series Lady in the Lake, which sees Natalie Portman star as an investigative journalist who becomes fixated on two unsolved murders.

And on Sky? This month sees the arrival of Mr Bigstuff, in which Danny Dyer makes his first starring appearance in a scripted TV comedy all about the world of carpet sales, and the addition of some brand-new movies from blockbusters including the 2023 hit Anyone But You and plenty more.

Mr Bigstuff

This six-part comedy series sees Ryan Sampson, best known for Brassic and Plebs, team up with the legendary TV star Danny Dyer to play estranged brothers. Exploring broken families, fragile masculinity and carpet sales, it tells the story of two brothers Glen and Lee, who couldn’t be more different. Glen and his fiancée share a perfect, mundane life but it's not long before Lee comes crashing into their lives, with the trio forced to live together under the same roof in an Essex cul-de-sac. Before long chaos ensues and their ‘perfect’ lives begin to unravel. Guaranteed to bring the laughs, this series is Danny Dyer as you’ve never seen him before!

Ibiza Narcos

The popular Narcos strand is back with its third instalment, Ibiza Narcos, which will explore how a tiny Mediterranean island transformed into one of the world’s most vibrant party capitals – fuelled by a lucrative drug trade. A documentary with plenty of drama, this series charts the rise and fall of the smugglers and dealers who brought Class A drugs to Ibiza during the 80s, 90s and 00s. The doc will also follow the police attempts to stop the drugs flowing in as the island's party reputation grew.

Anyone But You

This movie had everyone talking last year and even saw Natasha Beddingfield’s 2004 song ‘Unwritten’ re-enter the official charts, thanks to the movie’s success at the Box Office and on TikTok. Starring Sydney Sweeney – of Euphoria and The White Lotus fame - and Glen Powell, the movie follows Bea and Ben who, after a brilliant first date, find their attraction turning ice cold. But when they both end up at the same destination wedding, they pretend to be a couple for their own personal reasons and it’s not long before they begin falling for each other…

Battle of the Bagpipes

This three-part documentary will lift the lid on piping traditions and its star players as they compete for the ultimate prize. The series will uncover the fiercely competitive audition process for the Lone Piper at the Royal Military Tattoo and follow new recruits taking part in their first competition in the hope to be selected for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to perform for the King.

Mean Girls

The original Mean Girls movie was a cult phenomenon, birthing many iconic one-liners and characters, and twenty years later a new version was released. Based on the stage musical of the same name – written by comedic legend Tina Fey – this 2024 film is a new twist on the modern classic. The storyline remains the same…new student Cady Heron is welcomed into the top of the social food chain by the elite group of popular girls called “The Plastics” but when she makes the mistake of falling for the queen bee’s ex-boyfriend, she finds herself in crosshairs.

Nikki Glaser: Someday You’ll Die

Comedian and actress Nikki Glaser is back with a brand-new special. This record-breaking HBO special sees Nikki delve into why she doesn’t want kids, the harsh realities of aging, her sexual fantasies and plenty more – all in her hilarious, unapologetic and brutally honest style.
