The city of Glendora has announced Glendora Police Department Capt. Mike Randazzo will become its next chief of police, taking the helm on May 25 the day after current Police Chief Matthew Egan is set to retire.

“Mike understands the special relationship between this community and its police department,” City Manager Adam Raymond said in the announcement. “We’re excited to have a long serving leader in public safety take over as the next Chief of Police in Glendora. I am confident he will continue to strengthen  community partnerships and enhance the quality of life for all Glendorans.”

After growing up in West Covina, Randazzo began his career in law enforcement as a Glendora PD cadet in 1994 while he was still in college. He joined the force as a police officer in 1996, and while working as a patrol officer was also trained as a jailer and relief police dispatcher.

Since then Randazzo has also worked as a narcotics detective and motor officer, firearms and force instructor, field training officer, operator and team leader of the Foothills Special Enforcement Team (FSET), tactical flight officer  for the Foothill Air Support Team (FAST), AVOID grant supervisor, motor officer instructor, bicycle patrol officer, Force Team member, training manager, corporal, sergeant, and lieutenant. He was promoted to captain in July 2023.

“Over the last 30 years, Glendora has become my home and the Police Department my family,” Randazzo said. “I look forward to  serving the community in the capacity of Chief of Police and working with our exceptional members of the Police Department in safeguarding our community and enhancing the quality of life for all.”

Randazzo holds an associate’s of science degree in Criminal Justice, and a bachelor of science degree in administration of justice. He is a graduate of the Commission on Peace Officer  Standards and Training (POST) Sherman Block Supervisory Leadership Institute.

Glendora announced earlier this month that Police Chief Matthew Egan would retire after serving the city for 34 years in order to spend more time with family, traveling and reconnecting with friends.

“I’m going to miss the people,” Egan said in a statement. “It has been an honor to serve the Glendora community for over 30  years, and it will continue to be a very special place for me and my family. I have confidence in the people in our department to carry on providing purposeful professional  public safety service to our community.”
