Collaboration Agreement
Marine Regions interacts with the user community through the establishment of Collaboration Agreements. Marine Regions depends on data and knowledge sharing from global, European, regional and national data providers and relevant experts. In turn data providers should benefit from belonging to the Marine Regions partnership as they would get increased visibility, gain access to a variety of data analysis services which will benefit from integration of several distributed spatial datasets, as well as enjoying the benefit of the creation of stable unique identifiers. The Collaboration Agreement would also foster a sense of ownership amongst the partners. An example template of a Collaboration Agreement can be found here. Editorial Community
The Marine Regions Editorial Community consists of volunteer editors and data providers dedicated to enhancing the Marine Regions database by contributing expertise and monitoring data quality. Members participate in annual workshops and provide feedback and data, concentrating on scientific matters rather than procedural ones. The community aims for balanced representation across disciplines, geography, and gender, operating primarily through electronic communication. You can apply for membership by sending your contact details, interest and proposed contribution.

Working groups
- GEBCO-SCUFN
The GEBCO Sub-Committee on Undersea Feature Names (SCUFN) maintains and makes available a digital gazetteer of the names, generic feature type and geographic position of features on the sea floor. Marine Regions is an external observer of SCUFN, to ensure an operational link between the SCUFN Gazetteer and Marine Regions.
- TDWG Geographical Schemes Interest Group
The purpose of this interest group is to coordinate the development of one or more geographical schemes, including standard names, abbreviations, and boundaries, that are practically useful for managing occurrence data and species distributions. Marine Regions is involved in the development of the marine counterpart of the World Geographic Scheme for Recording Plant Distributions (WGSRPD), to make its coverage global.
