LUBBOCK, Texas– Lubbock Fire Rescue will conduct a full-scale emergency response exercise with two other government agencies on Thursday morning, according to a press release from LFR.

The exercise will be located at the BASF site on Erskine Street and is set to start at 8:00 a.m. BASF and Lubbock’s Office of Emergency Management will also participate. LFR said the exercise will simulate a chemical release and hazardous material response.

“The general public can expect a large presence of first responders in the area. All parts of this exercise are mock scenarios and may appear real to onlookers. However, there is no hazard or impact to the public during this exercise,” LFR said in a press release.

LFR said exercises like these “aim to enhance the coordination and response” between these agencies and ensure the safety of our community.
