The Air Jordan 6 is one of the most popular silhouettes within the Air Jordan lineup. Described by Tinker Hatfield as his model for excellence, the AJ6 first premiered decades ago in 1991. Since then, sneakers in this line have become highly valued among MJ fans and sneakerheads alike. This includes the Air Jordan 6 Infrared.

Michael Jordan first wore the Air Jordan 6 Infrared during his 1991-92 season. In 1991, the original version was made in nubuck and had a reflective Nike Air logo on the heel. When you think of the Air Jordan 6 Infrared, it's easy to think back to the 1991 and 2000 models.

What Are the Differences in Releases of the Air Jordan 6 Infrared Retros?

The number one question that comes to mind is if there are any differences between these classic models. This specific colorway was retroed and rereleased in 2000 with a darker Infrared and without reflectivity. The Jumpman lace lock is also on this sneaker.

In 2010, when the colorways were set to be updated again, Nike switched Infrared for Black/Varsity Red with the Jumpman lace lock remaining. In this edition, the usually visible Air unit is black. The Nike brand from the original appears on the heel. This release was part of the Infrared Pack. Also, some barely noticeable differences in detailing, shape, and heel logo appear but are as close to the OG as possible.

The 2014 Jordan Retro Infrared 6 version incorporates updated perforated nubuck leather material in its design and a return of the Jumpman logo and reflective detailing. It also features Infrared 23 accents and maintains the Jumpman lace lock.

The 2019 version of the classic Nike Air Jordan returns with plenty of updates. The exterior closely matches the original 1991 edition, including Infrared accents for its reflective characteristics and an updated heel tag with the Nike Air logo. This Jordan 6 Retro Infrared also sports a sock liner molded in PU to protect against wear and tear.

Jordan Retro 6 Black Infrared

This release was also done on a mass scale, so most sizes were released, even in toddlers. Additionally, the outsole has a giant Jumpman in the Infrared color, and portions of the sole are in translucent, icy rubber.

The Retro 6 Black Infrared 2019 has perforated detailing, a rounded toe design made of leather, and a logo patch located on the tongue. The sneaker does have Max Air and a paneled design. It was released during the All-Star Weekend in February of that year.

Air Jordan 6s are noted for some of the best ventilation in the Jordan line of sneakers. The shoe offers traction and good support with quality materials.
