In 2009, Jordan brand released the Air Jordan 2009 sneakers to the world. It was the first time the Jordan brand used the year of release as part of the official name of a shoe. Some sneakerheads still refer to the shoe as the Air Jordan 24s because the sneakers hit the market after the 23s. The brand went back to a number system in 2013 with the Jordan 28.

Created by Jayson Mayden, Jordan brand's Senior Footwear Designer, the Air Jordan 2009s quickly became iconic for their unique style. Besides being a great basketball shoe, the sneakers are sported by fans of the footwear as casual wear. These sneakers can be found on eBay and are available in a variety of sizes for both men and women. Jordan sneaker fans know that this footwear also comes in different widths and appreciate that they can find a pair that suits them. And, with a variety of looks to choose from, sneaker lovers can pair Jordan 2009 sneakers with the fashion style of their choice.

The Inspiration Behind the Jordan 2009s

Jason Mayden has revealed that the design for the Jordan 2009 was inspired by Michael Jordan's defensive skill on the basketball court. The design was also influenced by the sport of fencing and the geometric lines of a diamond to give the sneakers a futuristic look. Metal mesh on the tongue of the sneaker is reminiscent of a fencer's face mask. The traction pattern on the outsole is designed to mimic the movements of a fencer's sword tip during a match. At the ankle, the holographic diamond and the sharp lines on the shoe lend the concept of precision cuts only possible when using a diamond blade to the shoe. The Jordan 2009s also have a logo that spells Jordan whether you look at the shoe from the front or back, implying that during defense, MJ would be facing an opponent no matter which way they turned.

Jordan 2009s Incorporated New Technology

Jordan 2009 sneakers were the first Jordan brand shoe to use Articulated Propulsion Technology (APT). Inspired by the carbon fiber prosthetics used by runners, the innovation is intended to give a basketball player a boost while running on the court or while jumping up to take a shot. Another notable innovation is the lacing system. The enclosed laces start from the toe and go all the way up to the top of the shoe. This lacing system has been incorporated into this shoe to provide a snug and comfortable fit.

These sneakers also include other tried and true Nike technology, such as a thermoplastic urethane (TPU) midsole chassis. TPU is an advanced form of polyurethane that is very sturdy, abrasion resistant, and flexible and is still used in boot soles today. The injection process used in the production of the shoe resulted in a different pattern on every sneaker to ensure no two Jordan 2009s are exactly alike. The sneakers also have a carbon fiber midsole support shank similar to many other models of Air Jordans. Phylon lightweight foam is also included in the midsole for comfort. Finally, cushioning in the heel and foot is provided by Zoom Air technology. This technology was designed to provide impact protection when landing, such as after a basketball player takes a shot.

Materials Making Jordan 2009 Sneakers Look Luxurious

The Jordan 2009 sneakers are made of high-quality materials. Pleated satin paneling and a marbled midsole are just some of the luxurious touches incorporated into the shoe. A polished dress shoe style leather upper makes the Jordan 2009s a sneaker that would not look out of place if worn with a tuxedo. In addition, the shoe was designed with a plush inner lining to let the wearers know they are stepping into a top-of-the-line product. A lasered Jumpman logo on the tongue complements the diamond-cut motif of the shoe. Finally, the diamond at the ankle completes the opulent look of the Jordan 2009 sneaker. The overall design of these shoes means that sneakerheads have an Air Jordan to turn to when looking for a sneaker to wear to formal occasions.

It is also worth noting that the 2009 was the second Air Jordan to use the Nike Considered process.
