Design of the Jordan 13
Tinker Hatfield, a prolific designer of Air Jordans from the 1980s to the present day, designed the Jordan 13s. The Air Jordan 13, worn during the 1997-1998 season by Michael Jordan, was a groundbreaking sneaker that introduced carbon fiber plates and Zoom Air cushioning.
Hatfield took inspiration from Michael Jordan's "Black Cat" nickname while designing each element of this performance sneaker. The outsole looks like a cat's paw while the upper also features a holographic cat eye.
The Jordan 13 of the world-famous Air Jordan line features a leather and suede upper with quilted and embroidered textures. The graphite carbon fiber midfoot shank provides extra support on the court. The Phylon midsole provides lightweight cushioning while the heel and Zoom Air units enhance responsiveness and performance.
The sneaker also features a cushioned collar for a comfortable fit and a one-of-a-kind hidden lacing system. The durable rubber outsole with a herringbone traction pattern gives traction on outdoor and indoor courts.
