Sport groundfish impacts are tracked by weight. One metric ton = 2,204.6 pounds.

When a sport groundfish quota is reached or is projected to be reached, inseason adjustments to sport fishing regulations may be made in order to slow or stop fishing-related impacts on that species or species group.

What's a statistical month?

Groundfish estimates are calculated by statistical month. In the example below for 2021, catches from August 1 belong to the statistical month of July because the majority of days that week (Monday through Sunday) are in July.
