Seven men were wounded late Saturday night, four of them critically, in what detectives believe was a gang-related shooting in Long Beach, authorities said.
The shooting occurred around 11:15 p.m. in the area of South Street and Paramount Boulevard, according to Long Beach Police Department spokeswoman Alexis Lauro. Police believe at least two male suspects shot towards a group of people while some were on the patio of a business in the area.
The suspects fled after the shooting, Lauro said.
Four of the victims were in critical condition and three had non-life-threatening injuries, Lauro said. Some of the victims were taken to hospitals in private vehicles.
The motive was unknown, Lauro said.
Numerous shell casings were found in the street and in the parking lot of a strip mall on South Street. The mall includes the Prendido De Noche nightclub.
