Motorcyclist dies in fatal crash in NSW

A motorcyclist has died in a head-on collision near Ballina in northern NSW, police say.

The 24-year-old man was riding his bike on Marom Creek Road, Marom Creek, on Sunday afternoon when he collided head-on with a four-wheel drive at the intersection of Youngmans Creek Dip Road.

He was thrown from his bike and seriously injured. He died at the scene despite the efforts of members of the public to help him.

The driver of the 4WD, a 69-year-old man, was uninjured but was taken to hospital as a precaution and to provide a blood sample.
