I would also add 'keep your butt in that chair.' I often think the biggest difference between an unpublished writer and a published one is dedication and commitment to the craft, hunger to communicate and the discipline to keep pursuing your goals despite criticism and rejection. I have a binder full of rejection letters and considered each one affirmation--proof that I was trying, being fearless, chasing my dream. You have to do your very best work and put yourself out there, whether self-publishing or traditional. When you chase a dream, the universe conspires to help you get it.(less) flag 4 likes · like Comment Write a comment... What’s the best thing about being a writer? Movies tell you what to think. A good book lets you choose a few thoughts for yourself. Movies show you the pink house. A good book tells you there's a pink house and lets you paint some of the finishing touches, maybe choose the roof style, park your own car out front. My imagination has always topped anything a movie could come up with. Case in point, those darned Harry Potter movies. That was so not what that part-Veela-chick, Fleur Delacour, looked like.” ― Karen Marie Moning, Darkfever tags: books, humor, reading 3080 likes Like “The most confused we ever get is when we're trying to convince our heads of something our heart knows is a lie.” ― Karen Marie Moning 1720 likes Like See all Karen Marie Moning's quotes » Polls Which new release/soon to be released book have you been the most anxious for? When do you think the Fever Tarot cards will be on sale again? I would love to buy a set reply | flag message 12: by Mayko Apr 23, 2015 07:12AM Hi Karen,I would like to purchase a Fever Tarot deck. Where can I get one? reply | flag message 11: by Jewel Apr 14, 2015 05:00PM Karen, thanks for friending me! I was very inspired by what you wrote about your books. One does have to be true to the muse. I have tried to connect with an agent forever. You are so lucky to have a publisher. I almost had an agent for COSBY'S LOVE CHILD and then her husband tried to talk my subject into writing her own book, which she never will, and all went south. I love writing and won't quit, but I have also realized I write to see what is going to come out. I'm always surprised and think, "Wow, where did that come from?" I always have stories going on in my head and know there are not enough years to write them all. Good luck to you in all that you do. I will look to you as a mentor for you are way ahead of me! reply | flag message 10: by Mayko (last edited Oct 24, 2014 05:10AM) Oct 23, 2014 06:42AM OMG!
