Billie’s album seems to be hitting everything it needs to for AOTY. Lunch seems like the immediate hit, with Birds of a Feather being one that could smash over time. It’s also something we haven’t heard from her before and it feels like Grammy bait.
May 17, 2024 at 2:43 am #1205834367This needs to be Billie’s 67th Grammy submission:
HIT ME HARD AND SOFT – AOTY, Pop Vocal Album, Engineered Non-Classical Album
LUNCH – ROTY, SOTY, Pop Solo, Best Music Video
L’amour de ma vie – Best Pop Dance RecordingAm I missing something?

May 17, 2024 at 2:52 am #1205834371I was so excited from the snippets that I’m feeling a bit underwhelmed by the album. However, music usually takes some time for me to give a proper verdict, so it’s possible that I might end up changing my mind.
”L’A MOUR DE MA VIE” and “BIRDS OF A FEATHER” were the ones that stood out for me. Great tracks.

May 17, 2024 at 3:07 am #1205834373Out of all of the major artists who released, Billie’s album is the only that makes sense as an AOTY winner so far; I’d love for Eternal Sunshine or Cowboy Carter to be competitive but I don’t see it. That being said, I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s a Jon Batiste esque type of artist who who over performs in nominations and is also very competitive for the win.
May 17, 2024 at 3:12 am #1205834376Also as I suspected, Lunch is the lead and I’m almost certain it will not be competitive to win anything (unless it becomes a Flowers-level megahit). If she’s smart she’ll submit another single regardless of chart performance; she has already won twice in the GF with moderate hits
May 17, 2024 at 3:14 am #1205834378Also, I don’t know if I’m correct but I think in the closing track she makes references to the other tracks. I love her for doing it in pretty much all of her projects.

May 17, 2024 at 3:34 am #1205834391After 3 listen, it’s Billie’s best album to date and the best album released this year easily. Quality music is back!
May 17, 2024 at 3:37 am #1205834393Grammys, you better reward AOTY next year in terms of quality over quantity this time.

May 17, 2024 at 5:29 am #1205834424Initial takeaways from Billie Eilish’s HIT ME HARD AND SOFT:
Overall, I liked how she used her voice and FINNEAS’ production. Lyrics were also fine, not as strong as the ones on her first two albums.
The first three tracks are the best ones. They were my favorites alongside “BLUE”, a reimagined version of the unreleased “True Blue”, which I used to listen to a lot in 2018/2019. “BLUE” also recalls all the other songs on the album, similarly to “goodbye” in WWAFA,WDWG (and I think that’s so cool).
It also interpolates LDR’s “Blue Jeans”, so it’s automatically great. The other songs are OK, I liked most of them, guess they just weren’t love at first sight.Billie is not winning any song category with this one. “TEXAS HOLD ‘EM” and “Now And Then” remains frontrunners, IMO. Also, “L’AMOUR DE MA VIE” is NOT happening in Best Pop Dance Recording.
Although the album won’t likely have big hits, I do think it has a nice shot for AOTY. In the course of the coming months, we’ll see Billie campaigning with another record and Ariana with a movie. These two are the ones Pop voters will be going for the most – unless another pop artist releases during summer 👀 And bearing in mind that the most popular record will probably win BPVA, maybe eternal sunshine could still win. Time will tell.
