^^^^^^^^^^^I'd report them at minimum to their employer. They are likely to get fired eventually...moreso on the workers comp fraud. They'd still get public assistance, but at least their life would suck and someone who truly wants to work could get the now open job.

We have parents in the town in California where I teach who have their kids on free lunches (no proof of need required) and said children also have their own cell phones, and parents drive huge SUVs. It is a topic for jokes around here. That said, I was on government assistance for a year when my ex got drugged out and left me with 3 baby boys. It helped me while I obtained my teaching credential and I will be forever grateful. When I tried to pay it back, considering it a loan, I was told that there was nothing in place to accommodate repayment. Guess I'm doing it now with the high taxes we pay here, huh?

I grew up in the day where breakfast was not an offered meal at school. If the free breakfast was anything like my jr. high school lunches were...that, alone, is their punishment!

(PS...I bet they use their pre-paid card cell phones to call all their friends to tell them how horrible the food is! )

And you know these facts.......how?

I know that when my daughter was born, she was 36 weeks, which was consitered premature in AZ and we were automatically enrolled in WIC. No income verification was required because of her being classified premature according to them. She was automatically renewed at 1 yr because they did a very inacurate hematocrit test (the old type where the put a drop into a glass tube and compare it to a chart rather that a typical spun hematocrit test) where she showed slightly anemic. Also, right after her birth I lost my job. We went to the Dept. of economic services to get medicaide for her only. Not only did they put me and my wife on as well, they put us on food stamps without asking us. When I got a job with health benefits 4 months later, we called to discontinue everything. They told us we had to be enrolled for at least a year. At one year, when they found out WIC renewed my daughter, they renewed us for another year, once again without telling us. Its no wonder people never get off welfare, they make it 100 times harder to get off than to get on.

That may be feasible in cities where there is decent public transportation. Some people, however, may need that expensive car to look for work and/or get to their job. And trading in a luxury car for a car worth less than it is NOT easy and the lienholder, if there is one, may not allow for such a transaction. IF they do, it's likely to not only raise the interest rate, but add more to the life of the loan.

The WIC program is great but there are some strange guidelines. For example, my wife can get 2 jars of peanut butter, but only one small loaf of bread. You also can't get individually wrapped cheese slices, but you can get the more expensive Kraft Deli Slices that are not individually wrapped. There are a lot of restrictions on what you can get and in specific amounts. Like 18 oz. of cereal.

As for qualifications, I think we are doing better than a lot of people in LV. We still live month to month, but we are not poor. We just bought a home and we have two older model cars. My wife disclosed everything truthfully and we do qualify.

I have never been on any government assistance in my life until recently when I started to take over custody of my family members children. It's extremely expensive and really judging someone like that is not fair. By the way I have a nice car that I bought before these kids came to me.

This stuff makes me so upset, I am a mother of 3 children. I work full time and barley make ends meet. I am on WIC for my 20 month old and I have SNAP. I can't even afford a car and its hard to get up enough money to even pay bills and to take the bus to work every day. I am lucky to have a husband to stay home to be with my son so that I don't have to pay for day care. There are some of us that are trying to get things done with what we have. My kids are more important. This is y I have SNAP and WIC and medical for them. I am not a bum like others may thing I am. I am trying. there are ppl like me that just can't make it with out it because we work but not make as much as we should. Don't judge us before hand. You don't know the whole story.
