Not being in AR I can't give specific ideas but I can tell you this. Find a quiet apartment where you'll be able to study as well as unwind. Law School is extremely stressful and you'll need a place you are comfortable and can relax when possible.

Apartments overall are harder to find in Hillcrest- rental houses are more common here. I looked at Crestwood Manor and Lanai in the Hillcrest area (neither are bad, but neither were very interesting to me either) before focusing on houses. There are a lot of apartments near Hillcrest in Riverdale and Midtown that are worth looking into if you're set on an apartment.

Save on gas and stay within downtown LR or NLR. Any of the River Market places will have mostly young professionals or grad students living in them (Rock St Lofts, Block 2, Lafayette Square). It's a great urban environment to live in if you want to walk most places, have easy access to the entire region, be close to all the entertainment/social life, etc. If a little diversity doesn't bother you, I'd highly recommend some of the places in the Quapaw Qtr (East of Main St and north of 9th st) or even in the historic distric south of I-630...all of these neighborhoods have beautiful old buildings and are having new life breathed into them. Also, lots of law offices are scattered throughout the downtown area, so if your hubby wants an internship I'm sure he could find one within walking distance.
