Default Move or Not

My husband and I are seriously considering a move to LV, again depnding on employment. Hubby is in the road construction sector, he has worked for the same employer for over 15 years, with extensive experience in all phases of heavy/highway, including managerial and project management. (unfortnately he does not have engineering degree, but has the equivalent skills of an engineer) He has sent about 15 resumes out to local employers,
NO RESPONSE ? ( We have friends that already live in LV, he recently changed address to our friends, will that help?
Any Advice??????

There's plenty of opportunity for road construction workers here, but you're not going to get a response unless you've got a Las Vegas address and phone number. There's plenty of people in town all ready who could fill the spots, so the companies aren't going to bother with anyone who's just "seriously considering a move"- they want people who can start work immediately. Once you do get a call (the new address should help), you better be available for an interview in a day or two- they won't wait a week for you to make airline reservations and schedule a trip out. And you better be ready to start work in two weeks or less, as no one's going to wait much longer than that unless you're truly amazing, or the position issomething that's extremely difficult to fill.

Bob

Default Job Market

Thanks Bob.
Hubby is currently a foreman with extensive experience and would be looking for a Foreman, Project Manager, etc. or above. Not general labor,
He is Civil Construction Certified, also has Federal Security Clearance, OSHA Certified, 1st Response Certification, Environmental Remediation Certified, etc. Do you know if there are lots of people in this catergory? Just trying to feel it out as we really want to move to LV, but obviously to take a chance without a job would be scary and a huge financial risk.

Well, I don't know if your husband can get a job, but in all my years here there hasn't been a time that there hasn't been new road construction going on all over the Valley. It is never ending and goes on 24/7. You might also try some of the government contractors for the test site and the Yucca Mtn. Project.
