Your best bet would be to work for the club groups. The two best groups are Light and Pure, the problem out here is if you are working for the nightclubs, as a bartender , they expect you (as in mandatory) to promote their clubs on your nights off. This involves going out to their other venues and hanging out and drumming up guest lists.
This may sound like fun but gets old real soon.
The other option is to work for your local bars and build up a solid clientele(easier to get into) and less headaches but not as much money. I was a security lead for Club Noir which is the high end "invitation only" Bottle servise club inside LAX, which is in the Luxor and owned by PURE Management group. Female Bartenders there can easily pull in 500.00 to 700.00 a night. Local bars you are probably looking at 200.00 to 400.00 a night in a hot bar.

Default Union Bartender

Does anyone know how difficult it is to become a union bartender? What are the requirements? I know you have to take classes for 4 months first and be working at the time. Does the union help you find work? Is this an easier route to take when you want to bartend in Las Vegas?

Did ya ever wonder what became of the two "hot bartenders"? It was a while ago that he started this thread. I wonder if they "made" it or if they are both working at the t*tty bars?

I hope they are doing great!!! (and still together)

I know this has nothing to do with this post but since you mentioned the light group I thought you might have some advise for me. My husband is a mortgage broker in New York and not doing to well with the slup right now. He has a friend in vegas that just offered him a job with the Light Group and said he could start at Caramel and he will be in the union. Were considering the offer but I dont know if Im comfortable with him working in that atmosphere. We also have two kids, a two year old and a 5 month old. He thinks Im being insecure, but I think I'm being realistic. My question is have you seen people with familes able to work this type job and not cheat?

Sounds like a recipe for disaster, because obviously you dont trust him. Save yourself and him a lot of trouble and Divorce his ass now. Because if you are that insecure, it dosnt matter where he works, there are hot slutty chicks every where, even NYC

I've worked with people in the bar / club industry who've had families. It depends on the type of person. Has your husband had a history of this type of behavior? If the answer is yes; you don't want him working in an environment where temptation is abound. If he has been faithful to you; you have to trust that he will remain faithful to you and the kids. Key word here is TRUST

Sometimes even a person that you think is the most trustworthy person around can be in a situation full of temptation and get sucked in. (i don't know this from personal experience, to my knowledge, but know a lot of friends who do) Doesn't make them right, but you need to know your mate. Is he a party guy? Will he work and go home or could he get pulled into the "scene". Especially since it is a 24 hr "scene" and time can be easily misplaced. Seriously, I think it would be hard not to.

Then again, I suppose you could be a party person and never cheat. But with 2 kids do you want him working all those crazy shifts and hours anyway? I agree that if you are asking this question, there is an element of doubt from the get-go. Listen to your gut. Good luck!

Its funny that you used the term "recipe for disaster" thats what I said to my husband. My husband is not the party type at all, and I do trust him, he does his own thing(plays poker, sport bars, out drinking with friends from out of town) all the time. The fact is, can any guy be faithful in that situation? Our house is up for sale right now so we have to make a dicision,it seems like an option to make alot of money and get out of debt. Our other option is to live with one of our parents until we recover and save money. The other issue is my mother-in law and my sister in laws family also want to move to Vegas, and my sister in law thinks we would be crazy not to take the job, so I'm also getting pressure from them. Anyway, thanks for everyone's advise .

He hasn't cheated in the past and he's claimed he never cheated in past relationships, it just seems to me that Vegas is the ultimate temptation. Hence the saying "What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas". Vegas just has that air about it. Or on the flip side Im just over reacting. Has it worked out with the people you know with families ?
