I have seen this done a couple of times in the NW. Though both used the same technique. They installed two wall units at one end of the hose and vented out the other. The one I got to play with worked very well.

My mothers house in Sierra Vista, AZ used the duct work but was designed to go both ways from the start. Worked very well at the push of a button. I am surprised we do not see it more here in LV but she was a couple of thousand feet higher though well south.
