Very big money to be made in the car sales business. Much better than making minimum wage or working on the strip as a slave.

They will not let me go out and try to sell cars. The initial training was great the residual training my management is supposed to give me is nonexistent.
I don't have an employee number I don't have an ssid number. I haven't been shown how to do quite a bit.
They had me shadow a salesman well everytime he would do anything the floor manager came and pulled me off into the office.
I'm going to have to find another job real soon.
The draw is 700 under what my bills are. You have to sell 4 cars to break even on that. Draw vs commission.
Can't sell any when they keep us inside away from customers.
[language]
I said [ ] the other day and went and got a customer. Got him inside and the papers filled out (info gathering)
He wanted a very specific vehicle we didn't have on lot. He wouldn't budge.
Floor and desk managers both talked to him.
I did what I was supposed to do.
Well once he left the whole team was sent inside. We got berated before leaving and once again the next morning.
Manager was focused on me.
He was complaining that our sales are down for the month. The numbers are bad etc.
[language] it's not my fault, [language] I spent a whole 30 minutes outside. Why are you yelling at me?
I want to make 2500 a month why is that sofa king hard?

Still haven't sold a car. I seem to attract the [snip-language] customers.

Today a guy came in and wanted an 08 honda accord. We had one. That's all he wanted.
While I was having him fill out the paperwork, another salesman sold the car.

So much frustration.

Get used to it, brother. It's a numbers game. Just keep plugging. Remember, you're going to NOT sell a car the vast majority of the time. Fortunately, when you do, you're going to make good money. If I'm not mistaken, average closing percentage is 15-20% (may have changed in the last few years), so you're going to hear no alot more than yes.

Great thread. Love the insider info on what goes on behind the scenes. After reading it, I'm afraid to step into any Nevada car dealership. Guess I'll just buy my next car from a private party. I also read somewhere that if you do that, you don't have to pay sales tax. Thanks atheist.

You are NOT going to sell a car every day. You should sell 1 out of every 5 or 6 opportunities. The only dealerships with higher closing rations (for the most part) are high-end. We had a 40% closing ratio at Lexus, but that's still only 4 out of 10. You need to be more realistic on this one.

Well if they were normal rejections I'd be ok.
I knew from the numbers that you don't sell every day. 13 a month average 20 working days.
These were all messed up scenarios.

However I finally sold a car. 03 hyundai accent. The cheapest car on the lot. Lol.
