on Eastern and Silverado Ranch. Has anyone eaten here? The picture of their deep dish looks like they took it from the Giordano's menu in Chicago. If it's anything like the stuffed pizza that Giordano's sells, I gotta try it as that deep dish pizza is arguably the best Chicago has to offer.

I haven't tried their pizza, but I often eat at their flagship restaurant 'Windy City Beefs and Dogs" Delish! I don't even like hot dogs and I love theirs, also the Italian beef sandwich, yummm.

What's an Italian beef? You guys talking about a steak and cheese Philly (what we called a hoagie in WV).

When I'm eating again I'd like to try that place. Are there others in town?

I've only been to Chicago one time. But I remember the fellow worker I went there with was from Chicago, and he took me to a pizza joint that was the best I ever had. And I feel guilty saying that because I come from a town that prides itself on having the best pizza in the world. The thing I remember about the place was all the walls and ceilings were covered with pencil scribbling which they seemed to encourage. Especially the long hallway where the line to get in was. I think it was downtown and on the second floor, or maybe it covered two stories.

I don't like thin crust because it gives my mouth "paper cuts". I do like deep dish though.

I've been to that place in Chicago, too. Yumm.

Windy City's Beefs and Dogs is in the Von's shopping center on the northeast corner of Buffalo and Lake Mead. They don't do pizza, but order the Italian beef sandwich, cut in half with au jus on the side, the chilli dog (foot long) or the number 1, (Chicago dog combo with the sports peppers, tomatoes, onions, pickles, neon-colored relish and extra mustard. )

Can you tell I've eaten there once or twice?

I believe that is Gino's. And yes, it's amazing. It takes maybe 45 minutes to get your pizza as that is how long it takes to bake. The sausage pizza we ordered had a thin sausage patty that covered the entire top of the pie. Much more like a casserole or lasagne then a traditional pizza, but keep an open mind at it will be blown!

This is where he took you Buzz. If you looked closely you might have seen my initials from the 60s on one of those dark booths

Ginos East | Chicago Deep Dish Pizza

Not sure whether that original location is still there, but it was one of my favorites as well for many a year.

As John Stewart pointed out deep dish isn't pizza, it's a casserole.

I think that's it, Jim Croce .

I remember thinking about that when they opened Gino's East in the center on the SE corner of Sahara and Decatur. But that place served such bad pizza I thought I must be wrong. Are they still in town someplace?
