Default Hmm

My dad's company president says he loves the Platinum and stays there a lot. I haven't been and have no first-hand experience. The natives here are going to tell you something about how Platinum is in a "bad area," but then again people here think the Strip, which is all that most people (including myself) care about in Las Vegas, is a "bad area," despite it being perfectly safe. So make of that what you will, I've talked to a few people who stay at Platinum and I've never heard anyone say it was unsafe.

Meridian, I read there is a pending lawsuit or recent lawsuit against the developers for various design issues. I am not sure if that was only common area or general building construction. I don't personally like it because if I was buying into a place (maybe not as an investor), I would want a steel and concrete construction only.

Two people I know have bought as investors in MGM Signature recently, both are good with money and one is in acquisitions for my dad's company, so he buys and sells buildings and makes deals regularly. He seemed to think it was a good buy.

If Platinum is in a bad area then so is Meridian since they are across the street from each other. But they're only a five minute walk to the Strip. Litigation seems to be part of every Hi-Rise condo in Las Vegas.
There are pluses and minuses for each of the above mentioned places elaborated on other threads.

Thank's for comments. It's difficult finding the perfect place, especially when you are not native from the city. The Mgm is great but more expensive than platinum. The forum is rich but when you do not master the language, it is sometimes difficult to follow threads...( sometimes i feel shames, but I try to improve)
How much, do you think, a 1 bed could be renting in platinum ?

I apologize for my insensitivity toward the language barrier.

A few thoughts on the places you mentioned.
Platinum has very comfortable larger rooms. Location is good, only a five minute walk away from the strip. It has a very nice and fun pool. You can rent out the rooms or stay whenever you desire. The prices are way, way down. The negatives are that the fees are higher including HOA and CAM fees. I am a little concerned about the financial stability of the Platinum but it seems to be "surviving" so far. If you buy, I would strongly suggest you purchase on strip side. The website has current rental rates Las Vegas Hotels Off The Strip-Platinum Hotel And Spa- Las Vegas Suite Deals. You're cut will be about 40% of that. Remember that occupancy may vary.
The Meridian are converted condo's. Location is basically the same as the Platinum (since it is located across the street). HOA fees are typical but not out of the range for that area. I think that you have to rent long term ie minimum 6 months although there is a move to change that. There is ongoing litigation and it is unclear what the consequences will be, but that is one of the reasons why prices are low. There are not too many places you can find long term very nice rentals so close to the strip.
MGM Signature is a great location since it is on the strip. The purchase price is higher, but you also get a more elegant condo. You also get many of the amenities that is associated with the MGM.
Good Luck!

Bonjour Maximilien, Your Anglais is much better than my Français (which is almost non-existent), but I love your country. Especially Paris.

The area of those two hotels is no more dangerous than walking along la Seine near Tour Eiffel at night, so I wouldn't worry about that.

Pardon my stupidity, but since I live here I don't pay attention to new hotel/condos on the Strip except to say, "Oh my God, where did that come from?" when my wife and I see them the first time. So are those hotels that you just want to stay in for a vacation, or are you planning to buy a condo? The websites look like they are just hotels, but the conversation sounds like they are vacation time shares.

I'm sure you already know that to get an overnight hotel rate all you need do is book on line, and once you give them the information they give you a rate, which you can accept or not. This is probably not what you're looking for though.

By the way, Maximilien, I'm ashamed to say that you speak and write better English than a lot of English speaking people we see on these forums.
