Maybe it's a bad idea. How much do you like to gamble and drink beer? You could get into trouble fast if it gets out of control. Tanning in the desert sun isn't such a good idea either...or any sun for that matter. But you'll look like a lobster here in 15 minutes.

Not that I don't like you, but I'm wavering on inviting any more to the party. Our boat is about to sink.

You can come if you'll buy my house and take my place here though.

You're probably sick of shoveling all that snow you get up there, that's why my father left there 60 years ago. The thing you have to remember is that you would be going from one extreme (heavy, cold winters) to another with the hot temperatures. I would spend some time out there in July or August first to see if you like the hot, dry weather.

Plenty of sun for tanning, gambling all around and tons of beer to drink. The best part is that you can golf year round, can't do that in Albany. You couldn't pay me enough to live up that way although visiting Lake George in the summer is great.

how do you play golf year round in Vegas? I can't golf in 100 plus degree weather (I don't do mornings so I can't play early in the morning). Also it does get cold in the winter too - cold enough to inhibit the desire to play golf.

As far as gambling, my family does stop in casinos for entertainment periodically. Supposedly they win but I've seen them lose too. Generally if you lose, after a bit, you won't play any more - unless you have a problem. They tell me the secret is to hit and run - win and leave. Most people hang around until they lose it all back and then some. I don't do much gambling so I can't attest to that strategy - any time I've tried it, I don't start out winning so that doesn't work for me.

Good luck!

That's pretty much it on the head, I hit and run. There have been times where I've come away from a week up $700, but the last 2 trips including last month I lost $300. The secret is just like Bob Seger singing "never play the game too long". The house always has the advantage and over time you'll lose the short term gains.

As for the golf, yes it does get cold but with the Under Armour cold wear thermal that is skin tight, I can play even in 40-degree weather. I have no problem playing in the 100-degree weather because it is dry compared to 85-degree weather here in DC with 65% humidity. It is like you are carrying a second person, and it is hard to breathe in the middle of the day. I don't have that problem playing in Vegas.

I live in Albany and Im definatley going to try living in LV. GOing out in Aug, got a hotel booked for a month and well see what happens! Upstate is such a drag in the winter months, but the funny thig is, you can't even Ski or snowmobile that great anymore either, we have had **** snow for like the past 3 years? I used to love winter for that, but now it seems to be way too cold and just no precip. Summer here is great though, any of the lakes you visit up in the Adirondacks are great, my girlfriends parents have a camp on Sacandaca and you can't beat it. We have trees here! LV will be complete oppisite of upstate, not that its a bad thing...

If you're like me you won't miss it until October. Whenever I picture my home state of West (by God) Virginia I see trees in full fall color in my head. Until recently I was homesick since 1964. But like the dude said...you can't go home again. I wouldn't live in that humidity again fer nuthin.

Yea, Virginia has more humidity then upstate NY, so I feel ya there.. I will agree that October, November here also are pretty nice. The foliage is great, but then old man winter hits hard. Where Im at everything seems to be getting worse, the population is increasing, crime is increasing, traffic is slower than ever, partly due to the drivers here, many old people that refuse to drive 5 over the speed limit, I don't get it. Too many cops here giving tickets for no reason, whereas you goto the city they dont give 2 ****s what your driving behaviors are like, i.e cell phone usage, speeding, road rage. They just dont have the time. It seems as if people in L.A know how to drive but the traffic is so crazy that it doesn't move much. I'm pretty optimistic about Vegas, I think its where you choose to associate and what you do that will make it or break it. Air conditioning, a pool, and nightime activities in summer months would help beat the heat and make things better. P.S you can't beat the kindness of the people in VA though, I have many friends there, it must be in the water. Much nicer than here

I'm not from VIRGINIA, I'm from WEST Virginia (as in West By God Virginia) where people are even more friendly. Big difference though. Been two separate states since 1863. And no, WV is not quite as humid as VA; it's probably more like where you live. But anything east of the Rocky Mountains is way too humid for a long time westerner like me. You're right, the people in LA seem to know how to drive...UNTIL they get to Las Vegas. Then they forget everything they ever knew.
