Depends on what you're looking for in a job. I can tell you what's not in Vegas, you don't have a lot of tech jobs nor do you have jobs in federal government where you need a security clearance.

The overwhelming majority of jobs will be in hospitality and retail; however, there are plenty of jobs in management, sales, automotive, and of course casinos. Look at career builder or monster and you can get an idea of whats out in Vegas jobwise.

I'd also throw the Healthcare category out there as well.

As the nation's number one resort destination with the most hotel rooms of any other city, the most expensive (to build not necessarily most expensive to visit) hotels, plus the largest hotels, in the world...well it's obvious most of the jobs are related to serving over 40 million tourists per year, so why ask?

But, due to the Nevada Test Site the DOE for one has always had a large presence in Las Vegas. Bechtel is the prime contractor at the site, and SAIC (except I think there was a merger and a name change) handles the Yucca Mountain project and maybe some other things. Plus there is Area 51, and there are contractors for Nellis and the Nellis Bombing & Gunnery Range. I think the prime is Lockheed-Martin. Plus there is the group which used to be run by EG&G, now I think it's under Bechtel, and I forget the name, but they are tasked with finding lost nukes, and other such ops all over the world. It goes on and on. So all of those need security clearances. It really hurt the Las Vegas economy when they shut down nuke testing at the site, but there are still lots of people working on lots of projects out there. The security guards out there used to be regular looking, out of shape guys like you'd see working security anywhere. Go out there now and you'll see that they all look like extras from a Bruce Willis Die Hard movie. Scary bunch of dudes running around with automatic weapons and muscles in places I don't even have places.

But going back to the original question, what has a lot of jobs? There may be jobs, there isn't a lot of jobs. So it's not dead wrong.
