I am contemplating moving to Sheboygan County... My extended family is in Adell and Plymouth and I have great memories of that area. I was born in Kenosha, which I hated, but we spent a lot of time "up north."
I would rent, but do not want a complex. I want something old fashioned in an old neighborhood, that will take cats. I've been trying to find pictures of some of those neighborhoods but cannot. So any ideas of general areas would be of help.
And then of course I need to find a job. I am a social worker. I've looked at some of the hospitals so far. I think I will have to move and then find a job because generally social work is not the kind of profession that will pay moving expenses or has a lack of candidates meaning they would be willing to wait until I get there. So anyone knowing anything about the social work market would be appreciated.

I know there are some nice neighborhoods to rent houses or uppers/lowers in sheboygan. There are some rough neighborghoods... can't really pin-point any particular area for you in the city, as there are so many that I think are pretty decent. Some bad areas... Michigan/Erie Ave... not the most desireable. Along 8th street between Michigan - Penn Ave are some of the older places. Lots of businesses and local business nearby as well as downtown, but crime is higher there and houses older. Near schools... always safe to go with near schools

Not to freak you out since this is reality today, but if you are interested in that type of housing keep in mind many a sex offender are in these areas of Michigan avenue in the uppers/lowers, etc. Fortunately you can check a data base from the state of Wisconsin and just google "sex offenders Wisconsin" and put the 53081 zip code and you will see where they all are. And they tend to group these folks together when they are released so a whole 4-plex, etc may house them. Just something to think about and be aware.
