Hi there,
So glad I found this site. We currently are living in Madison and my husband is working in Milwaukee. The commute is killing us! We are considering a move to Milwaukee. We are both UW alums so we are familiar with Milwaukee but not so much with the surrounding areas. We have two small children so we would like a smaller community that is safe and close to downtown. I have been hearing a lot about Glendale. Any thoughts? We love Madison and it will be very hard to leave the diversity. We don't want to wind up in a suburb with a lot of chain restaurants and strip malls--just not our thing. We really like the small farmers market near our house, the parks, etc... We can't afford to buy right away--anyone know anything about rental opportunities or good sites to check out. Any info would be greatly appreciated!

You want to check out craigslist.

craigslist: milwaukee classifieds for jobs, apartments, personals, for sale, services, community, and events
craigslist: wisconsin jobs, housing, for sale, personals, services, community, and events

Good luck.

The Waukesha area is nice and is about a 20-40 min. commute depending on where you live. You would also be closer to visiting Madison. I don't know all that much about Glendale. If you can afford it, Whitefish Bay and Shorewood both possess some of the qualities you are looking for as well. Good luck!
