Lombard officials will recommend that the Village Board reject the latest state proposal to widen North Avenue, the so-called Alternate D, Trustee Timothy Krisch (1st) said Tuesday. He said two village committees will instead recommend Plan A of the Illinois Department of Transportation, which calls for two frontage roads feeding North Avenue at West Road, Main and Grace Streets and Joyce Avenue. Alternate D provides for three lanes each way separated by a 44-foot-wide median strip with full traffic signals at Main and Grace and minor signals at Joyce and Lombard Road; U-turns would be allowed at the minor intersections.
