A memorial service for Henry K. Beard, 76, who was known for his pipe organ designs, will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday in the Presbyterian Church of Barrington Hills, 6 S. Brinker Rd., in the suburb. Mr. Beard, who was a Midwest representative for Moeller Organ Co. for more than 40 years, died Saturday in his home in Barrington Hills. A native of York, Pa., Mr. Beard received a degree in organ studies from the Curtis Institute of Music, in Philadelphia, and an engineering degree from Pennsylvania State University. He studied music abroad and then began working for Moeller. He was known for designing pipe organs including one at Chicago`s Orchestra Hall and one at St. Chrysostom Episcopal Church, 1424 N. Dearborn St. Survivors include his wife, Maud; a brother; and a sister.
