History of Marine Corps Auxiliary Landing Field Bogue, NC

Marine Corps Auxiliary Landing Field (MCALF) Bogue is a military installation owned and operated by Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Cherry Point.  The installation consists of 843.82 acres, and was purchased for $97,600 on Nov. 19, 1942.  MCALF Bogue provides expeditionary airfield support and contingency runway training capabilities for fixed-wing, rotary, and tiltrotor aircraft and ground support units.  The training areas extend to the shoreline to allow three points for ship-to-shore surface connectors in support of amphibious operations.  MCALF Bogue provides a mess hall and billeting options for troops along with fuels and firefighting support for the airfield.  There are 64 permanent personnel that work and maintain the installation.
