  • White Sox's Dominic Leone: Gets green light for rehab stint

Leone (elbow) is expected to pitch for Triple-A Charlotte within the next day or two, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

It was reported over the weekend that Leone was nearing a rehab assignment, and skipper Pedro Grifol confirmed Monday that Leone would report to Triple-A for his first action since being placed on the 60-day IL with right elbow inflammation. The right-hander hasn't made an appearance since May 24, so he'll need at least a few innings of work in the minors before being activated.

  • White Sox's Matt Foster: Resuming rehab assignment

Foster (elbow/back) is expected to resume his rehab assignment with Triple-A Charlotte in the coming days, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Foster has missed the entirety of the 2024 season so far while continuing to recover the Tommy John surgery he underwent in April of 2023 and most recently he suffered a strained back earlier in July while on his rehab assignment with Charlotte. Manager Pedro Grifol said Monday that the right-hander will appear in another game in the next day or two. Once healthy, Foster will likely be used in low-leverage spots out of Chicago's bullpen until he finds his footing again at the major-league level.

  • White Sox's Jimmy Lambert: Making rehab appearance shortly

Lambert (shoulder) will pitch in an Arizona Complex League game in the next day or so, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

This is the next step in Lambert's recovery after he was officially cleared to begin a rehab stint Friday. He'll likely need at least a few appearances in the ACL before ultimately advancing to tougher competition considering he's yet to pitch in a game this season.

  • White Sox's Yoan Moncada: Pulled off rehab due to soreness

Moncada (adductor) has been pulled off his rehab assignment due to soreness, LaMond Pope of the Chicago Tribune reports.

White Sox manager Pedro Grifol referred to the soreness as "anticipated" and added that "there's nothing where we feel he's taken a step back." Moncada will be re-evaluated before it's determined when he might be ready to be sent out for games again. Out since early April with an adductor strain, Moncada had gone 8-for-15 with one double in five rehab contests with the White Sox' Arizona Complex League affiliate.

  • White Sox's Nick Senzel: Heading to bench Monday

Senzel is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Rangers.

After signing with the White Sox over the All-Star break, Senzel has now hit the bench for two of the team's first four games of the second half, with both of his absences coming against right-handed pitching. Senzel has gone hitless in his first seven at-bats with Chicago and looks like he could be a lesser priority than Brooks Baldwin, Paul DeJong and Nicky Lopez in the infield.

  • White Sox's Eloy Jimenez: Out of lineup Monday

Jimenez is absent from the lineup for Monday's game against the Rangers.

Jimenez will head to the bench while the White Sox go with Gavin Sheets as their designated hitter. While he had started each of the previous four contests, Jimenez has now received seven days off since June 26. He's turned in a .605 OPS with zero home runs over that stretch.

  • White Sox's Yoan Moncada: Won't be rushed back

The White Sox are being cautious in their plans for Moncada's (thigh) return, MLB.com reports.

Moncada has gone 8-for-15 across five games with the Arizona Complex League club but has had mixed results in terms of his recovery, per manager Pedro Grifol. The team has consistently stated they will be cautious with Moncada, so he could engage in a lengthy rehab assignment.

  • White Sox's Dominic Leone: Nearing rehab assignment

Leone (elbow) has begun the ramping-up process and could begin a rehab assignment during the week of July 22, MLB.com reports.

Leone has been sidelined since May 24 and has managed only 15.1 total innings this season. He should only require a couple of rehab appearances before rejoining the White Sox's bullpen.

  • White Sox's John Brebbia: Implodes to take loss

Brebbia (0-5) allowed three earned runs on five hits and no walks while striking out two to take the loss Sunday against the Royals.

Brebbia began the season in poor form but entered Sunday's game having maintained a 1.40 ERA and 0.93 WHIP with a 28:4 K:BB across 19.1 innings. He has been one of the White Sox's top setup men in that span and has racked up eight holds. Michael Kopech appears to have a clear grip on the closer role for the team, but setting aside Sunday's tough outing, Brebbia has proven to be a reliable high-leverage option.

  • White Sox's Drew Thorpe: Dazzles in no-decision

Thorpe didn't factor into the decision in Sunday's 4-1 loss to the Royals. He pitched six scoreless innings, allowing three hits and two walks while striking out five.

Thorpe was impressive yet again Sunday, registering a start of six scoreless innings for the second time in his first seven career outings. He was pulled in the seventh after reaching 97 pitches, and his bullpen couldn't hold on to the 1-0 lead he left them. Thorpe has been one of the better rookie hurlers in the American League, as he now has a streak of five straight quality starts. Outside of his June 16 appearance, when he gave up seven earned runs, the 23-year-old has given up only six earned runs over his other six starts.

  • White Sox's Gavin Sheets: Losing work versus righties

Sheets will start in right field and bat second Sunday against the Royals.

Though he'll occupy a prominent spot in the batting order in the series finale in Kansas City, Sheets still appears to be on the outside looking in for a regular spot in the White Sox lineup. He didn't start in either of the first two games of the series, with the Royals bringing righties to the hill for both contests. With Andrew Vaughn and Eloy Jimenez locked in as the White Sox's primary starters at first base and designated hitter, respectively, and Andrew Benintendi and Tommy Pham typically serving as the team's starters in the corner outfield, Sheets look like he'll need an injury or a trade to get steadier playing time.

  • White Sox's Andrew Benintendi: Not in Sunday's lineup

Benintendi is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Royals.

Benintendi has gone 5-for-11 with a homer over his past three games but will sit for Sunday's series finale in Kansas City. Tommy Pham will shift to left field while Gavin Sheets receives a start in right against Royals righty Seth Lugo.

  • White Sox's Paul DeJong: Out of Sunday's lineup

DeJong is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Royals.

DeJong started the previous 12 games but will sit Sunday after he posted a .143 average and 32.6 percent strikeout rate during that span. The veteran shortstop has made just one of his past four starts at the position, as he's seen more action at third base of late while Nicky Lopez works more at shortstop. DeJong is a prime candidate to be traded ahead of the July 30 deadline, but he's hurting his trade value with a .442 OPS this month.

  • White Sox's Jonathan Cannon: Completes six innings in loss

Cannon allowed four runs on eight hits and no walks while striking out four batters over six innings in a loss to the Royals on Saturday.

Cannon looked like he could be in for a short outing after giving up four runs through two frames, but he recovered thereafter and didn't allow any additional runners to score for the rest of his start. The right-hander completed exactly six innings for the third straight appearance, though he has just one quality start during that span. Cannon has been doing enough to maintain his spot in Chicago's rotation, but he hasn't been an impactful arm in fantasy, as he has an unimpressive 6.9 K/9 and a mediocre 4.41 ERA through 51.0 innings.

  • White Sox's Chuckie Robinson: First start since 2022

Robinson went 1-for-3 against the Royals on Saturday.

Robinson was recalled to the majors Friday and made his first big-league appearance since 2022 on Saturday. He'll remain the backup to Korey Lee behind the plate but should have a chance to stick in the majors after Martin Maldonado was designated for assignment.

  • White Sox's Mike Clevinger: Next rehab start scheduled

Clevinger (elbow) will make another rehab start with Triple-A Charlotte on Tuesday, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Tuesday will mark Clevinger's fifth rehab start in Triple-A, and it will be his third start since neck stiffness forced him to pause his assignment in late June. Manager Pedro Grifol said the team still hasn't decided if the 33-year-old will require an additional rehab outing, though how Clevinger performs Tuesday will likely affect that decision. Across his four starts, Clevinger has surrendered 10 earned runs in 14.1 innings while striking out 13 batters and walking four.
