Simply, samsung never really cared about NX. They thought NX as something like their smartphones. They put out a new gadget, hope to sell millions of it, after few months discontinue it and put out the following one. With cameras is very different. And they failed even with a very, very good product underneath.

Best does not always win. In the marketplace, moving product is usually the decisive factor. That is why companies like Canon succeed. Their products are bleh, but they sell a lot of them, and in a shrinking market that allows them to outlive superior competitors like Samsung.

Just think about tanks in the second world war. Germany made the best tanks, but they were complex machines that could not be replaced easily. The Americans and Russians on the other hand made crap tanks, but produced them in such massive quantities that they overpowered the German machines through sheer numbers. If a German tank got knocked out, replacing it was a problem, but if a Russian or American tank got knocked out, it was replaced the next day. That was why the Germans lost.
