NBA buys building in West Little Rock. (Inside Business).
The National Bank of Arkansas, a privately held community bank based in North Little Rock, is branching out across the Arkansas River. The bank has bought 1.7 acres at the corner of Bowman Road and Markham Street, and plans are in the works for an 18,000-SF building to house NBA'S first Little Rock branch.
Stephanie Rogers, a spokeswoman for the bank, said about 40 percent of NBA'S customers live in Little Rock. She said no date had been set for work to begin at the site.
Financial details of the purchase were not released.
The site includes the former studios for Fox affiliate KLRT-TV, Channel 16, and UPN affiliate KASN-TV, Channel 38.
The two stations, owned by Clear Channel Broadcasting, left those studios in 2001 when Clear Channel moved all of its Little Rock broadcasting properties to the renovated,. 105,000-SF Sam's Club warehouse at the corner of Col. Glenn Road and I-430.
The new branch, according to Rogers, could be a remodeling of that building or an entirely new building.
According to a news release, the building possibly will also be the home to a "well-known national franchise" and other tenants. Negotiations are in progress, Rogers said.
The National Bank of Arkansas, with nine branches in North Little Rock, Conway and Maumelle, has $130 million in assets.
