TGEU works not only for the rights of trans people themselves, but also for the rights of their families and those closest to them, such as their children and their partners or spouses.

In particular, TGEU seeks to ensure that trans people’s parenthood and their parental rights are protected and upheld and that their gender identity or gender expression are not under any circumstances used as a basis to deny or restrict these rights.

In addition, TGEU works to protect the rights of children and their parents in trans families, which includes having documentation of their family status that reflects the family’s lived reality.

TGEU collects information on the situation of trans parents, their children, and their partners, across Europe and advocates for these rights at political institutions, including children’s rights bodies.
