Graduation Information

Rain Plan: Hooding Ceremony moved to Moody Coliseum at 8:00 p.m.
Unfortunately, because of the weather, our hooding ceremony cannot be held outside on the law quad this evening. Hooding will be held at 8:00 pm in Moody Coliseum.

Graduates: report to the Dedman Center for Lifetime Sports at 7:00 pm. Please note that your guests will not be permitted to enter the Dedman Center, so they should proceed directly to Moody Coliseum. Please leave personal belongings with one of your guests. You will not be able to leave any items in the Dedman Center during the ceremony and the building will not be accessible after the event.

Faculty and Family Hooders: report to the Miller Event Center at 7:00 pm. There will be no faculty group photo or family hooder photos.

Prohibited Items Information: Please be aware that Moody Coliseum has very strict rules about what items may be brought into the venue, and standard-sized purses, backpacks, and camera bags are prohibited. Only small clutches (no larger than 8.5 by 5.5) and clear bags (no larger than 12 by 6 by 12 inches) are permitted. Please click the link below for more information about permitted and prohibited items.

Parking: parking will still be available in the Daniel Parking Center, but you may choose to park in the Moody Parking Center, Binkley Parking Center, or Mustang Parking Center, all of which are closer to the venue. Please note that another ceremony will be ending in Moody Coliseum around 7:15 pm, so parking could be challenging early on. You may want to consider using a ride share service.

Important - Recently Updated: Because of an unusually large number of students participating in the ALL-UNIVERSITY COMMENCEMENT CONVOCATION on Saturday morning, May 18, the expected large numbers of audience members, and the strong interest from the public in attending graduation this year, SMU will require that all guests, regardless of age, have a ticket. In early May, candidates will be emailed information on new procedures for guest tickets, and security screening requirements for Moody Coliseum. Visit the main campus May Commencement website for additional information.
