J.D. Students

SMU Dedman School of Law enjoys a national and international reputation of distinction and is among the most competitive law schools in the country in admissions. Our students are immersed in a rich curriculum and obtain real-world experience through internship programs, academic externships, and public service placements. As a part of SMU's strong tradition of training lawyers to practice in a global environment, students have an opportunity to study abroad at the Oxford Summer Program at University College in Oxford.

Our J.D. program is a full-time, three-year program.  All students must earn a minimum of 87 hours to complete the J.D. degree. All entering law students must begin during the fall semester in August.
