Institute for Public Health
Institute for Public Health works as a connector, convener, and catalyst across all seven of our schools to tackle regional and global public health challenges. It bridges disciplines to stimulate innovation and improve population health by advancing research, practice, training, education, community partnerships, and public policy.

Making a difference in the community
According to the Gephardt Institute for Civic and Community Engagement, Washington University volunteers more than 7 million person hours to the community each year.
Approximately 600 university/community partnerships are sustained each year.
About 60% of undergraduate students participate in community service.
Graduate and professional students support community organizations through practica and clinics connected to their degree programs, including law, social work, medicine and physical therapy. They receive practical hands-on learning while simultaneously increasing the capacity of local, national and international organizations.
