We're pleased to offer another way for you to get news alerts from NBC-2.com: Push alerts for users of OSX Mavericks and later.

The new feature can automatically help you get your favorite content - even when you're not on our website - by using web browser push notifications. It's free and easy to use, with just one click.

Browser push is a new technology that works just like smartphone mobile app push notifications, except with the newer web browsers.

Apple Safari on OSX Mavericks and later is currently supported; Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox will soon be adding support.

When you land on our website you might see a pop up window that asks something like, "The Website would like to send you push notifications in the Notification Center." with the option to "Allow" or "Don't Allow."

If you select "Allow," we'll be able to send you the latest news updates immediately when they're published to you so you'll never miss anything. If you say, "Don't Allow" it won't prompt you again.

By default, the Push Notifications use Apple's "banner" style placement in the upper right, and some people feel they vanish too quickly. To keep them there until you dismiss them, go to System Preferences in OSX and choose "Notifications." There you will find all items enable for notifications and their settings. Choose the "Alert" style to have the item stay until you dismiss them.

If you opt-in, then find out that you don't like the push notifications, you can easily opt-out at any time by going to the "Notifications" tab of your Safari browser "Preferences" menu and turning them off. You can also turn them off in the "Notifications" section of System Preferences.

You can change the items you subscribe to by clicking on the link below.

We also offer news alerts for your mobile devices, including News and Weather, and via email.

If you have feedback on the service, or need help, we'd love to hear from you. Email us at newstips@nbc-2.com.
