Campus & City Buses
Take a free ride (on a bus)
Whether you need to travel across campus or across town, chances are there's a campus or city bus that can take you where you need to go—and you can do it for free if you're an IU employee or student.
Campus Bus Service
Campus Bus Service provides bus transportation on campus. Anyone—including visitors—can ride a campus bus for free, and all buses are fully ADA-accessible.
Bus schedules are based on class times, and there are no transfers to other public transportation systems.
Bloomington Transit bus service
Bloomington's city bus service, Bloomington Transit, provides rides around town and to the IU Bloomington campus. Buses travel to and from campus, and to most residence halls and apartment complexes.
All IU employees and students can ride Bloomington Transit buses for free. IU students are required to show a valid student ID. IU employees must show an IU bus pass, which is issued by Campus Card Services.
Rural Transit bus service
Rural Transit offers various transportation services outside of Bloomington in parts of Lawrence, Monroe, Owen, and Putnam counties. Anyone may ride regardless of age or disability. Door-to-door transportation is available, but must be arranged in advance.
Visit the Rural Transit website for detailed information on the services provided.
