Nia Long Joins ‘NCIS: Los Angeles’ for Season 9

Nia Long is joining “NCIS: Los Angeles” as a series regular ahead of the CBS procedural’s ninth season. The actress will portray Shay Mosely, the team’s new executive assistant director. The character is a former Secret Service agent and an experienced Washington insider. “The character was created specifically for Nia to capitalize on her strengths and personality, and we are excited about the new opportunities and dynamics she brings to the show,” said executive producer R. NBC is adjusting its fall premiere schedule.
The network on Monday set a new premiere date for “The Good Place.” The half-hour comedy from executive producer Mike Schur will debut its second season Wednesday, Sept. 20 at 10 p.m. The premiere will follow the two-hour season finale of “America’s Got Talent.”
The series, starring Kristen Bell and Ted Danson, will then move to its regular 8:30 p.m. time period the following week beginning Sept. 28. That night had been the planned season premiere for “The Good Place.”
In its first season, “The Good Place” averaged a 1.4 Nielsen live-plus-same day rating among adults 18-49 and 4.7 million total viewers.
In her review of season one for Variety, Maureen Ryan, wrote, “’The Good Place,’ for all its fanciful elements and whimsical flourishes, has a rock-solid foundation: It is devoted to questions and scenarios that percolate with moral urgency.”

The second season of the FX anthology series “American Crime Story” already has one detractor, and it’s someone who is portrayed in the biographical drama. “American Crime Story: The Assassination of Gianni Versace” will be covering the death of the fashion designer, who was murdered in 1997 at his Miami home. Hackers have broken into the networks of HBO and reportedly leaked unreleased episodes of a number of shows, as well as the script for next week’s “Game of Thrones” episode. Altogether, they have reportedly obtained a total of 1.5 terabyte of data.
HBO confirmed the intrusion in a statement sent to Variety:
“HBO recently experienced a cyber incident, which resulted in the compromise of proprietary information. We immediately began investigating the incident and are working with law enforcement and outside cybersecurity firms. Data protection is a top priority at HBO, and we take seriously our responsibility to protect the data we hold.”
Entertainment Weekly was first to report about the hack, and allegedly leaked content, Monday. According to that report, the hackers have already leaked unreleased episodes of “Ballers” and “Room 104.”

Rebecca Daugherty has been named executive VP of marketing for ABC Entertainment. In her new role, Daugherty will oversee marketing for ABC and ABC Studios.
Daugherty’s promotion follows the departure in February of longtime ABC marketing head Marla Provencio.
“As a leader in an industry filled with creative superstars, Becky has been at the center of many of ABC’s most successful and memorable marketing campaigns,” said ABC Entertainment president Channing Dungey. “She’s a gifted innovator whose keen ability to showcase our programs and talent across multiple platforms is especially assuring as we lead the charge into an exciting new season ahead.”

Cartoon Network will debut the new animated series “Ok K.O.! Let’s Be Heroes” on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. Et/Pt, and it’s a show unlike any other for a variety of reasons, not the least of which is the console game designed alongside the series that will launch sometime this fall.
The story revolves around K.O., a young wannabe hero who lives in a world populated by superheroes who fight robots from a nefarious factory called Boxmore.
The half-hour series, which will air at 6:30 p.m. Monday through Friday following its hourlong premiere, is different from just about any animated show in many ways, particularly with regard to the game. Games usually come after a series has been well established, bringing with it a guaranteed fan base, but Cartoon Network wanted to change that dynamic.
