Buzzfeed Writer Mocked for Telling People Not to Attack John McCain

Buzzfeed editor Sarah Mimms may have thought she was saying something pretty uncontroversial when she implored her followers not to say anything bad about cancer-stricken Sen. John McCain. But they weren’t having it. McCain, who was just diagnosed with a brain tumor, returned to the Senate on Tuesday to vote in favor of opening debate on legislation to repeal the Affordable Care Act. McCain also said he would not vote in favor of the current version of the bill, and pleaded for more civility from both the left and right. Vice President Mike Pence voted yes to break a tie vote, »

Will ‘Dunkirk’ Stay Afloat Against ‘Atomic Blonde,’ ‘Emoji Movie’ at Box Office This Weekend?

After beating tracker expectations with a $50.5 million opening, “Dunkirk” will try to continue Christopher Nolan’s success in holdover weekends as Focus Features’ spy flick “Atomic Blonde” and Columbia/Sony Animation’s “The Emoji Movie” enter theaters to close out July. As was the case with “Girls Trip” and “Valerian” last weekend, “Dunkirk” will be competing against films with different primary demographics, so it will likely come down to how well “Dunkirk” can keep drawing older audiences while “Emoji Movie” targets kids enjoying summer break and “Atomic Blonde” aims for 18 to 34 audiences, both male and female. 1 hour ago

The Republicans are continuing their attempt at repealing the Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare, with the Senate voting to push a repeal bill to floor debate. But people hated American health care so much before 2010, Hollywood made plenty of movies, TV shows and documentaries about it. Here’s a list of films that are a helpful reminder of how American health care »

Cte Found in 99 Percent of Tested NFL Brains

A new study of former NFL players’ brains found that 99 percent of them tested positive for Cte — a degenerative brain disease that is caused by blows to the head and can lead to depression, impulsivity, rage and memory. In the study, published in the Journal of the American Medical Association, neuropathologist Dr. Ann McKee studied the donated brains of 202 former players and found that of the 111 that played in the NFL, 110 of them had Cte, which stands for chronic traumatic encephalopathy. (Her findings were consistent with her past studies — in September 2015 she concluded that 87 »

Adam Conover’s character in “Adam Ruins Everything” is all about ruining everything, obviously. He tells the truth about things such as fad diets and global warming based on evidence that works against what people might commonly think. In the original College Humor shorts, Conover was the almost omniscient and pestering purveyor of knowledge — running into the middle of personal dinners or intimate events to drop facts. In the TruTV show, however, he takes a step back.
