You’ll get involved with exciting practical projects that will give you a strong understanding of that it will be like working in industry. Among these is the chance to film Derby County FC’s home matches for the club’s website - just one of the many real world learning opportunities available when you study with us.

Our media students attend workshops run by the Royal Television Society which gives them the opportunity to hear and learn from respected industry professionals. You’ll also have access to our huge range of equipment, from a Canon C100 to the Red One and Red Epic cameras. We have more than 200 Apple computers with the full Adobe CC package, Microsoft Office and Apple iWork applications as standard and specialist software for each industry.

Knowing that I was being taught by lecturers who shared my passion for film was very inspiring to me

Drew Davis

"I’ve lived in Derby all of my life and I have a real soft spot for the city and surrounding areas, so I knew I wanted to stay close when I went to university. I also knew people who had been to the University of Derby to study Film and they each praised it. So it was a no brainer! My time at the University of Derby was instrumental in where I am now. Each day at work, I’m putting everything I learned at university into practice. Had I not gone to the University of Derby to study Film, I honestly don’t think I’d be where I am right now. Many of the lecturers were very ‘plugged in’ to the film community in Derby, which also inspired me to get involved with it too."

Drew is now a Director of Future Proof Films, a video production company that specialises in creating stunning corporate video content.
